About This Mod

Replace the sleeveless models of genetically modified soldiers with standard armor models by replacing the XComContent.ini file with this file or manually changing it according to the instructions.

XCOM: I stopped playing in the XCOM series after EW was released a few years ago. I recently wanted to play XCOM 2, but I decided to finish playing XCOM: EW. As before, I was very annoyed by the sleeveless bullet-proof vests of genetically modified soldiers. Fortunately, the XCOM modding is very simple, and you can use standard armor models for these soldiers.

File Replacement Installation

If you prefer, you can use the fashion file found here and replace the corresponding file with my reservation settings. Maud will retain a sleeveless version of Kevlar armor, but will return all other in-game armor (from Karspace to Titan) to the standard.

The file for modification can be found here:

USERPROFILE%Documents:My Games

Or, if you use OneDrive, here:

or %USERPROFILE%P.A.D.A.P.P.P.P.P.P.

Install via Edit

You can also skip downloading the file and edit the INI file yourself. Open the above XComContent.ini file with a text editor. The search string is as follows:

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_1_Kevlar_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleKevlar_GM.ARC_FemaleKevlar_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_2_Carapace_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleCarapace_GM.ARC_FemaleCarapace_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_2_Skeleton_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleSkeleton_GM.ARC_FemaleSkeleton_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_3_Archangel_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleArchangel_GM.ARC_FemaleArchangel_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_3_Ghost_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleGhost_GM.ARC_FemaleGhost_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_3_Titan_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleTitan_GM.ARC_FemaleTitan_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_FemalePsi_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemalePsi_GM.ARC_FemalePsi_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Male_1_Kevlar_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_MaleKevlar_GM.ARC_MaleKevlar_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Male_2_Carapace_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_MaleCarapace_GM.ARC_MaleCarapace_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Male_2_Skeleton_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_MaleSkeleton_GM.ARC_MaleSkeleton_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Male_3_Archangel_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_MaleArchangel_GM.ARC_MaleArchangel_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Male_3_Ghost_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_MaleGhost_GM.ARC_MaleGhost_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Male_3_Titan_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_MaleTitan_GM.ARC_MaleTitan_GM")

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_MalePsi_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_MalePsi_GM.ARC_MalePsi_GM")

Note: In the original file, all these lines are not arranged in neat blocks, as shown here. These strings are ordered, and among them there are other values that we removed in this example.

Remove "_GM" from the key values. For example.

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_3_Titan_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleTitan_GM.ARC_FemaleTitan_GM")

which

UnitPackageInfo=(PawnType=ePawnType_Female_3_Titan_GM,ArchetypeName="Soldier_FemaleTitan.ARC_FemaleTitan").

Do this for all "_GM" armor you want to change.

Compatibility.

This mod file is an installation of the Steam version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown in Steam without any mods; it is probably not compatible with mods that modify XComContent.ini (including Long War). However, manual editing of the file will always work unless you undo changes to other mods that you use.
