About This Mod

Requirements

Visual C++ Redistributable runtimes (Required for archive version. Versions 17-22 are already included in the installer, but for other versions and as a backup option, run AIO.)

Windows 10 x64 or Windows 11 (Requirement entered by Qt6.)

Changes

  • Overwrite warning is disabled by default because in most cases it is safe to do so, and a large red warning can cause confusion.
  • Removed BOSS and FOMM from automatically detected executables in FNV instances to avoid problems due to their obsolescence and other problems.
  • Custom ModdingLinked screensaver from Nehred.
  • Redirected support links to ModdingLinked Discord.
  • Fixed conflict resolution UI, always showing TaleOfTwoWastelands - Main.bsa as the winner of the conflict. Forgot to include it in ML1.5, fix.
  • During installation, the mod name now defaults to the file name. This prevents most cases where the user has to manually select the appropriate name to avoid the selection prompt that occurs when there are mods with the same name. You can enable or disable this feature in Settings.
  • Removed the "Sync with mods..." overwrite button, because it could cause a hang when large lists were created and practically no one used it.
  • By default, categories (as well as column) are disabled because they are mostly unreliable and lead to micromanagement (which can be counterproductive in modding, especially for beginners).
  • Mod Organizer will now prompt the user to remove FalloutNV_lang.esp. This translation plugin directly edits thousands of entries to change the language, resulting in many incompatibilities with most mods.
  • Added "ParticleLights" as a valid folder in SSE and SkyrimVR instances.

Added ESL plugins as valid files in SkyrimVR instances (thanks to Skyrim VR ESL Support).

  • SSE and SkyrimVR instances now support Enderal/EnderalSE boot by default.
  • DLCs for FNV are now automatically placed in the correct positions.
  • Booting from ModPub is now supported.
  • The version string in the installer has been changed to display the full version after major.minor.patch.
  • The LOOT plugin is hidden if sorting is disabled or not supported.
  • Hidden button FO4 LOOT behind the configuration, as in the FNV and TTW instances in version >=2.5.2.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are these changes not included in the original MO2?

Quite a few of these changes are not suitable for the main branch, but are suitable for this fork, due to the fact that users are more specific (ModdingLinked users who, at least in theory, follow our instructions). This is by no means a separate project, we plan to continue relocating our fork to include the latest changes to MO2, while maintaining the above-mentioned unique settings, without which we can not do.

So why haven't the changes that fit the major version been uploaded to the original repository yet?

  • Before talking to AL, we didn't even think the MO2 team would be interested in this, given that the project has stagnated several times in the past for months, if not years.
  • Some of these changes are already part of the pool proverbs, but ignoring them is another reason we thought PR wouldn’t lead to anything.
  • Now, after talking to AL, we have more motivation for PR, but given how slow the main branch is compared to ours, there will inevitably be a delay in the release of MO2 with our changes.

Can I upgrade an existing installation to this version?

  • Make sure MO2 is closed,
  • Locate the existing MO2 folder and delete the plugins folder (this will prevent problems if your current installation is 2.4 or earlier),
  • Download the archived version of this fork, then take all of its files and drag them to the MO2 folder,
  • Replace the files when prompted.

Are MO2 plugins compatible?

Plugins that work with the original version of MO2 2.5.2 will work with this version. Bethesda Plugin Manager is not compatible with changes in version >=2.5.2 and has its own problems. Here are some recommendations:

Root Builder

Curation Club

NIF Preview with updated DLL

Why does MO2 crash at startup?

This should be fixed by the Visual C++ Redistributable runtimes update (automatically installed and updated by the installer in version 1.3 and higher, but there is still a chance that it will not work and you will need to use AIO).
