About This Mod

GWR station

A set of templates, modules and assets of modular railway stations in the style of British Great Western Railway (GWR) from Isambard.

Three distinct eras are envisaged:

  • GEO (1850-1947)
  • British Railways (Western Region) (1948-1969)
  • British Railways (1970+)

Station Templates

  1. Passenger through station
  2. Passenger terminal

Station Modules

  1. Passenger platform with terminal ramps
  2. Passenger platform without end ramps (for further detail using track means)
  3. Passenger platform without fences (for the possibility of sinking a platform with a non-modular track)
  4. Reservation hall of the main passenger building (capacity 40 passengers)
  5. Waiting room on the side of the passenger body (capacity 30 passengers)
  6. Side entrance for access to passenger stations
  7. Subway for access to passenger platforms
  8. Footbridge (left staircase) for access to the passenger platform
  9. Pedestrian bridge (right staircase) for access to the passenger platform
  10. Canopy on platform
  11. Side fence (to add fences to platforms without fences)

Asset Tracking

  1. Left ramp
  2. Platform segment (5m consisting of two 2.5m halves)
  3. Right ramp
  4. Waiting room
  5. End wall for rails or platform
  6. Footbridge
  7. Pedestrian Crossing
  8. Bench
  9. Lamp post
  10. Poster board

Notes

(a) There is no tilt of platforms and ramps, so only a flat path should be used when constructing platforms and ramps.

(b) In order to best align the platform face on a curved alignment, the center of the platform segment shall be located at the beginning of the path by setting the offset along the alignment to 0.0 m.

(c) Use a scale along the path to reduce gaps between platforms and overlaps on curved paths (they can also occur on straight paths, because although the nominal distance between the start of the path is 1 m, this is not necessarily the case, depending on the length of the path segment).

(d) When the platform segment is connected to a modular platform or ramp, ideally the connection should also be located at the beginning of the equipment path. To facilitate this task, the 5 m platform segment is divided into two 2.5 m halves in such a way that only one or the other half should be used for such a connection (thus a typical platform extension to a modular platform includes one half segment, several full segments, another half segment and a ramp).

e) I use the following steps to expand the platform two-way to the modular platform (also shown in the preview video):

  1. Set Platform Back to No, Width to (or greater than), and offset along the track to 0.0 m, draw a straight line of two faces, from the modular platform to the ramp.
  2. With Width set to 0.0 m, draw another ramp face by adjusting the offset along the route so that the top of this ramp is at the surface level of the first ramp.
  3. Using the same offset value along the alignment, draw a segment of the platform half that joins the second edge of the ramp.
  4. With the alignment offset 0.0 m, draw the second face from the modular platform toward the ramp until the clearance is less than one platform segment.
  5. Fill the gap with half or a full platform segment, using offsets and scaling along the track to adjust the segment size and position to fit.
  6. For each platform segment and ramp of the first face, use the Surface Reduction tool to adjust the surface to the correct width (the surface is slightly below the top of the platform edge slab).
  7. Sometimes it is also necessary to use the surface of the second face of platform segments and ramp. In this case, after you set the Width and Surface Decrease option, use the Surface Decrease option to prevent overlapping surfaces from flickering.

(e) The Maud on the track of a Killakan (when he is outside the modular stations) has a different origin of the track height compared to the track in the base game. Use Height Adjustment to remove the platform surface step caused by this step.

Known Issues

(a) The quick slider movement when setting up an existing asset is sometimes not recorded. This appears to be a problem with the base game, as it also affects the base game's assets. Be careful with the sliders!

(b) Passenger buildings and side entrances may not be located at other stations (non-MAG) and, if located, will have displaced platform surfaces and will not provide functioning passenger lanes.
