About This Mod
At RUSTIC WINDOWS, I decided to adopt Skyrim's "opaque" windows not as a limitation of the game engine, but as a conscious choice of the people of Skyrim. Living in a cold harsh climate, the nords, quite naturally, created a thick glass with good insulation. This is not a modern "window" glass. This glass, which withstands the effects of the elements, passes the light, but at the same time is very durable and allows residents privacy.
UPDATE 04/10/20: Version 2.0 adds several windows that were originally omitted. This update adds two ship windows used on the emperor's flagship, Cataria. A large stained-glass window was also added, found in the Night Mother's chambers at the Dark Brotherhood headquarters.
The inhabitants of Skairima live in close quarters and in close proximity to each other. Would such people want to be admired by street thieves, pickpockets and a guild of thieves? I don't think so. It's enough that bombastic morons like Nazim bother you with questions about visiting the Cloud District... Do you really want them to look into your windows?
Skyrim's windows may be opaque, but they have their own purpose - to let sunlight into dark dwellings, lit only by candles and fireplaces. Thick textured glass is necessary to insulate from cold, provide strength and protect people's property from prying eyes. In this spirit, I changed the texture of the windows in Skyrim to suit the story. I tried to keep as much original window design as possible. Sometimes it meant recreating the texture from scratch, but I tried to stay true to Bethesda's original aesthetic.
For users who want a more subtle window glow, you can also download more dim glow maps. This can be useful for those who have lighting modes that enhance the glow effect of windows. If the standard glow seems too bright, try this option.
NOTE: As for the color of the windows..... I took all my screenshots with EFLX and ENB. Depending on which zipper mod you use, the color and appearance of the windows will be different. They will also look different at different times of the day.
