About This Mod

Traffic v0.1.7.2

Successor TM:PE for Cities Skylines II

The goal of the project is to bring more tools into the game that will help users to control traffic, both known from the CS1 TM:PE fashion and new ones.

Enabled Features

Lane Connector Tool - for users familiar with TM:PE in CS1, there is no need to describe it, but for new players it is a tool that allows changing the junction of the intersections to any one suitable for your case. Since the mod cannot read the user's mind, in certain circumstances it may be necessary to revisit the changed intersection to add or change connections. Details below.

Usage

Ctrl+R enable Lane Connector Tool or just click the button in the upper left corner, then select any intersection.

Modify the lane joints by selecting the source and target lane circles.

For more advanced settings:

- hold down Alt to change the mode to unsafe connection (dotted) - does not work for track connections

- Hold down Ctrl to connect only to the track,

ยท Hold the Shift to connect only to the road

- Hold Ctrl+Shift to connect only to the road (e.g. Car+Tram)

Known Issues and Limitations (Current Version)

- No support for roundabouts; to apply the update, you must first reset the custom lane connections

- No support for vanilla updates of prohibited destinations (tooltips with additional information are available in the game)

- No support for bidirectional lane connections (e.g. two-way connections to a single train/tram)

- Intersection with custom lane connections will not generate lane connections when changed, for example: adding new intersecting road - connections need to be created manually or just reset

User-defined bar connections can be automatically removed (leaving the bars unconnected!) in the following cases:

- when the network composition changed, for example: "small two-lane road" was replaced by an asymmetrical version 2+1

- the road direction was changed by means of a replacement tool

- modernization of tram lines has been applied or removed

The above problems and limitations are not insoluble (mostly), but they require considerable effort, which will delay the release of the mode, so I decided to reduce the initial scope of compatibility functions. I hope to improve them later, with your help.

Compatibility with other modifications

- Automatically migrate data from Traffic Lights Enhancement's Lane Direction to Traffic's Lane Connections (when loading a save, a dialog will appear with the results of the migration)

- Tested with Extended Road Upgrades, no issues found.

Preservation

The mod stores the data in the save file, but because CS II handles the missing mods and assets, the saves will load correctly, but the changes applied by the mod will be reset when the road/rail network is updated to their default values.

Editor

The mod has not been thoroughly tested in the map editor, but it is expected that it will save the Lane connector settings to a map file, which should then be loaded successfully when creating a new game based on it. Opinions/tests are welcome.

Plans

For the next big update planned feature priority signs on each section of the road, at the moment I collect feedback and ideas on how it should work and what minimal set of features it could offer. Since I can't use any of the original fashion, why not make it better from scratch. Multilingual translation will be supported on Crowdin, more information will be available soon. In case of critical problems, minor bug fixes or tweaks, they will be released more frequently.

Feedback, feature ideas, support

You can contact me in TM:PE or Cities: Skylines Modding discord and on the PDX forum in the fashion comments section, but for more convenient management, for larger feature requests or anything that requires more discussion, I'd rather Issues or Discussions on Github
