About This Mod

A simple BepİnEx plugin that restores basic Unity support for 5.1, 7.1 and other multi-channel audio configurations and enables Valheim surround sound.

Surprisingly, Valheim is encoded to use stereo sound. This is similar to over-policing, in which Unity 5.1+ can do all its good work on its own, so auto-discovery is not so heavily built-in.

If you have any surround settings and you ask, "Did this deer run left, left, back, left, or right to the left?"- Or if you want to enjoy a slightly more exciting experience of Walheim, when the waves break behind you and the fifteenth Gradwarf stone misses you and crashes into your home, it might help.

Requirements:

Latest (5.4+) BepİnEx installation

A4.0/5.1/7.1/etc. Sound configuration for any benefit

Installation: Just leave the audio modem switch on.dll in the BepİnEx / plugins folder. Valheim should be next to other plugins, including the default Valheim for BepİnEx.View information about Bepinex...dll.

Configuration (optional): After starting it runs in BepİnEx / config / nyrin.AudioModeSwitcher mode, you can enable / disable the mode along with more detailed debug output to the bepinex log. You can also specify the exact format of the audio output when Autodiscover does not select the desired configuration.

How it works: The mode is very simple - it simply asks Unity for the preferred audio output format in the system and instead uses an encoded 2.0 stereo setting.

Limitations: The soundstage was clearly not the focus of Walheim's team, so from time to time you can find out where your character is, especially where your camera is, which is not bad, but can stand out.

The subwoofer channels do not seem to be particularly balanced, and you may have to adjust the equalizer settings (or lower the subwoofer slightly).

Troubleshooting: Check the supported formats specified in the above configurations by opening the debug log. You will need to monitor the log output as follows:

[Info: Unity Log] AudioModeSwitcher: [Debug] Start Speakermode == Stereo (4ms).

[Info: Unity Log] AudioModeSwitcher: [Debug] Reported Capabilities == Mode5Point1 (5ms)

[Info: Unity Log] AudioModeSwitcher: [debug] New audio settings == Mode5Point1 (57ms)

If Unity thinks that your computer does not support anything other than a stereo system, double-check your operating system settings (for example, the Windows surround settings from which you chose the speaker layout). You can also specify the output format manually, even if Unity does not claim to be the preferred one.Whether it helps may depend on your mileage.
