About This Mod

This is my first fashion in life, so I expect some problems that I have not considered. I probably won't make many mods in my lifetime, but I'll try to update this one as often as I can.

Now let's see what this thing is!

22/07/2016 UPDATE

- Added two specific versions compatible with Bordraw's Brotherhood Power Armor Overhaul (let him be praised for this wonderful mod!) and an additional file that makes Danse Lightyear wear T-51 instead of T-60. It is intended to be used with BPAO, therefore requires at least Consistent Power Armor Overhaul

.

SO I HAVE TO ASK NORMAL QUESTIONS? OK. WHAT DOES FASHION DO?

Thank you, dear rhetorical interlocutor. It simply changes the attributes of T-51 and T-60: amor health, damage resistance, upgrade cost, and armor level requirement for spawning in frames. Lining, fashion and painting have remained intact, so the NPC still wear the same models as before, and you still get a T-60 when you join the Brotherhood. Rejoice, veterans of Fallout, your favorite retro walking tank is back on top!

WHY MAN? DID YOU REALLY NEED TO DO THAT?

Well... I love T-60. I was a big fan of T-45s in Fallout 3, so how can I hate this venerable ancestor's more cumbersome, more advanced iteration? Someone might say "gg Bethesda's venison lazy design", but I don't mind, it's probably my favorite vanilla armor set throughout the Fallout universe. <3

But to be honest, I was not entirely satisfied with how the T-60 was introduced into the setting:

"I was disappointed by how widespread the T-60 is in the Commonwealth. The Brotherhood and Atomic Cats wear T-60 armor, and I got them in large numbers before I got just one full T-51 - in fact, I found it harder to get a full set of T-51 than X-01 because of the spawn system! |:^[

"At first, I thought it was just a redesign of the T-45. The T-60 is cool, but it doesn't look like a logical development of power armor technology after the T-51. Comparing the T-45 with its successor, one can notice some clever developments in design (more round armored plates for better dissipation of kinetic energy, compact armored cartridges, shielded pack, etc...), while the T-60 looks like the T-45 with additional armor and some assets borrowed from the T-51 (hinged armored cartridges). The main argument is that the T-60 is the best of the two models, but the T-51 is still better designed, more compact and has a completely different appearance, so the T-60 looks a bit superfluous.

TL;DR.: No, I'm NOT a T-60 hater nor a nostalgic Fallout fanboy. The T-60 is cool, but for me it is not the technological or aesthetic successor to the T-51, so I prefer to see it as an improved and ultra-armored T-45, easier to manufacture and maintain than the more advanced T-51. I made this mod for those who believe that the T-51 should be inferior to any safe X-01.

It's just my personal taste and vision, I'm fully aware of the changes made by Bethesda in history, and I accept them. But, hey, the choice - this is what it is worth doing modding ;^)

WHY DIFFERENT FILES? IT'S A TRAP?!

Slow down, my imaginary friend! Since there are some conflicts between this mod and others I use (see the compatibility section), I was forced to make different versions. They are quite specific, but I will die a happy person if they are useful to at least one player here ;^)

IMPORTANT! Some of these ESP files are standalone, so you only need ONE of them, depending on the mods you use.

Older is Better.esp

(STAND): The main standalone mod for vanilla armor.

Older is Better - PAOE.esp (STAND) : Works with Mcgan's PowerArmor Overmodded Edition.

Older is Better - BPAO (STAND): Works with Bordraw's Brotherhood Power Armor Overhaul add-on.

NOTE: I changed the original files slightly to preserve the logic of my fashion, so the Knight Captains and Knight Commanders now wear T-60, while the Paladins, Paladins Commanders and Star Paladins wear T-51.

Old Better - BPAO &PAOE (STAND): Works with both mods.

Older is Better - 2LM.esp : Patch that makes the mod compatible with option 2LM from Legendary Modification by teaLz.

(PATCH)

2LM uses its own data for resistance, health and cost of armor, so these attributes are not changed by my mod and need to be patched. However, 2LM does not change the cost of upgrades, reparations, etc., while my mod does. If you don't use this patch, your 2LM T-51 and T-60 will retain their vanilla resistance, health and cost, but items needed for upgrade and repair will be changed.

Older is Better- 2LM & PAOE.esp

(PATCH): Same as above, but compatible with PAOE.

HOW DO I INSTALL THIS?

This link can be useful if you are making a mod from Bethesda :^ for the first time)

http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Fallout_4_Mod_Installation

Once you know what files you need, just follow these steps:

1) Download the files you are interested in.

2) Place the DATA folder in the Fallout 4 main folder.

3) Activate mod(s) using Nexus Mod Manager.

And voila! Enjoy the game! :^D
