About This Mod

This mod creates a separate battle armor that is transparent like glass. This armor can be modified in the same way as any other battle armor, with the same coloring and everything else.

Now you can install the glass version or the transparent aluminum version, or install both if you want.

The decal has been removed from the breastplates, so there will be no star or any other symbol on them.

Leather belts, aluminum fittings, and waist bags were not made transparent for realism.

The leather undershirt was removed from the Sturdy and Heavy variants.

Update:

A new version of Glass Combat Armor has been released. This version corresponds to the Bethesda.net version of this file, with two different color palettes (both included in the zip file), the option to choose which ones to wear, and moving the Glass Combat Armor recipe to the header so it doesn't clutter Chemistry Workbench. Wearing options allow you to create a larger or smaller version of the armor using only the armor scaling option found in Creation Kit. This version was also completely created with Creation Kit, so before installing the new version, remove all existing armor and sell it or scrap it to avoid losing it completely.

Installation:

Mod managers should be able to set it as the default, because I used standard folder names beginning with Data.

You can also install it manually by simply unzipping the Data folder into the Fallout 4 installation folder, which is usually located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Fallout4

however, this may change depending on your installation.

After manually or using a mod manager, add GlassCombat.esp or TACombat.esp to the Plugins.txt file, making sure that the file is read-only after you edit it, usually at:

C:\Users\<USERID>\AppData\Local\Fallout4

If you want glass battle armor to look more glass, I have included an additional file that will allow you to do so in the downloads section. This is done using a pallet file, so this download only has this pallet file. If you do not use this file, glass battle armor will use the same color palette as vanilla battle armor. Extract this additional file to the main Fallout 4 folder, as well as the files above, but only after installing Glass Combat Armors. I included the instructions in the additional file as readme if you want to replace the pallet with transparent aluminum, but this file was for the Glass version.

Deleting:

Remove the GlassCombat or TACombat folder from the Materials, Meshes, and Textures folders, and remove GlassCombat.esp and/or TACombat.esp from the Data folder.

In game:

These armor can be manufactured on a chemical workbench, in the Utilities section. I don't know how to force level creation (light, durable or heavy), so you may have to create armor several times to get the one you want.

The name of the reservation depends on the load you choose. The glass will be displayed as Glass Combat <Armor Piece>, transparent aluminum - as Transparent Combat <Armor Piece> (I thought Transparent Aluminum - it's a bit long to add to the name of the armor, so I settled on just Transparent).

I have tried to keep craft requirements low to compensate for not knowing what armor you will receive, the requirements are as follows:

Glass:

Breastplate: 1 Aluminum (for fittings), 2 Leather (straps that hold it together), 5 Glass (main component of armor)

Hands & Feet: 1 aluminum, 1 leather, 2 glass

Helmet: 1 aluminum, 2 leather, 3 glass

Version 3.0 Glass:

Light armor requires a Armorsmith 1.

Durable armor requires a Armorsmith 3

Heavy armor requires a Armorsmith 4.

Transparent Aluminum:

Breastplate: 6 Aluminum, 2 Leather

Hands and Feet: 3 Aluminum, 1 Leather

Helmet: 4 Aluminum, 2 Leather

You can also use console commands to retrieve these items, but again, items have been cloned from the base game, so you won't know what level you will get until you exit the console screen.

Objects can be found using:

Help Battle Armor 4

Note:

This mod is fully compatible with John Doe Bowler's Craftable Armor Size to choose the size you get, can make crafting a little easier so you don't have to constantly crafting to get the right size.

Version 3.0 of Glass Combat Armor no longer supports Craftable Armor Size, as items can be manufactured to the size you want at the beginning, and no longer have keywords associated with this mod.
