HOW TO USE IT.

Open the mod manager anywhere (if you're updating from an older version, open it over the older version).

Make sure that all PAKs in your DMC5 installation have not been changed before running the mod manager for the first time (a simple way to do this is to right-click on a game in Steam and select "check file integrity").

Copy mods from "[modmanager]˶Games" to DMC5 'Mods' (note that not all mods are compatible with the mod manager).

Launch Mod Manager, click on "Manage Mods" and click on the mod to install or uninstall it.

What if the patch was applied to the DMC5 without a mod installed?

Click on "reread game archives" in the "Mod Management" menu in the Mod Manager.

You will be able to re-install and uninstall mods - note that some mods may not be compatible with new versions.

What to do if the patch is applied to DMC5 with the mod installed

Try to remove the mod from Mod Manager, you should receive an error message indicating that the PAK file is different.

Open the 'Force Uninstall' option at the top of the Mod Manager menu.

Click on the option "Remove all mods".

This is not required, but for reliability it is recommended to right click on the game in Steam and select "Check file integrity".

From the Mod Manager's Mod Management menu, click on "reread game archives".

The mod must be successfully installed and uninstalled again. Note that some mods may not be compatible with newer versions of the game.

Mode Maker Information: Click on "mod downloads" to download sample mod configurations.

Click on 'mod downloads' to download an example of how the mod should be configured.

Note that the modinfo.ini file is optional (as are all entries in it).

The mod manager will always check for 'screenshot.jpg' or 'screenshot.png' to be used as a mod preview image, even if the modinfo.ini file does not exist.

It is highly recommended that you disable the "solid archive" option, which should be the default in WinRAR, and compress the mod into the RAR archive.

If the mod is designed as an addon for another mod, you can add the entry "AddonFor=ModName" to the modinfo.ini mod file. Replace "ModName" with the full name of the mod, which is an addon for this mod.

You can also group a mod collection into a single menu button by adding an entry of type "NameAsBundle=NameHere" to the mod collection, replacing "NameHere" with the name of the mod collection so that each mod in the collection has a full name entry.

In case you're wondering, here's a detailed explanation of how a fashion manager works in DMC5:

It processes mod file names and tries to find them in the game's PAK file (it searches for them just like the game, calculating a hash based on the file path).

If matching entries are found, it disables those entries in the PAK so that the game cannot find them, and thus attempts to load the file outside the PAK.

The mod files are then copied to the game directory.

Deleting a mod is very similar (using the PAK cache information to re-enable entries in the PAK file) and automatically deletes the copied mod file (or restores a backup of the original file).
