About This Mod
Port Royal, founded by the Spanish in 1494, once shone as the largest city in the Caribbean, and by the second half of the XVII century established itself as a key center of shipping and trade in the region.
The city served as a haven for privateers and pirates, who were supported in attacks on Spanish ships - at that time the small European powers preferred not to engage in open confrontation with Spain. As a port city, Port Royal is renowned for its defiant wealth and free manners. In the XVII century, it was a favorite port for privateers sponsored by England and the Netherlands, where they lowered looted treasures. Pirates from all over the world, including places as far away as Madagascar, flocked to Port Royal.
Port Royal was destroyed by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami of 7 June 1692, killing almost half of the city's population. This historical earthquake is distinguished by the possibility of accurate dating - not only by date, but also by time of day. A documentary evidence of this is a pocket watch raised from the seabed in the 1960s, whose hands stopped at 11:43 a.m., recording the time of destruction.
The earthquake caused the sand beneath the city to liquefy and move into Kingston Harbor. Groundwater levels were only two feet below the surface, and the city was built on a layer of water-saturated sand about 65 feet (20 m) thick. Such geological features could not provide a solid foundation for the construction of the entire city.
The earthquake of 1692 in Port Royal also dramatically changed the appearance of the area, which today looks very different. This map is based on what the earth looked like before the earthquake.
Installation:
- Extract the .cok and .cok.cid files to the AppData/LocalLow/Colossal Order/Cities Skylines II/Maps folder
- If the "maps" folder does not exist, create it.
