About This Mod
The year 1901 was marked by an important event: the Australian colonies finally agreed to unite and create the Commonwealth of Australia.
After much debate about which city - Sydney or Melbourne - should be the capital, a compromise was found. The new capital was to be built in New South Wales, provided that it was located at least 100 miles from Sydney. Officially founded in 1913, the capital was named Canberra.
The area chosen to host the capital has been inhabited for 21,000 years by indigenous Australians, including the Ngunnawal and Ngambri tribes. After an international design competition, the plan developed by American architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin won, and construction began in 1913.
Canberra, unusually for Australian cities, is a fully planned city. The Griffin design was geometrically motivated and based on axes oriented toward important topographical landmarks such as Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, Capitol Hill, and City Hill. Canberra's mountainous landscape makes it the only city in mainland Australia to see snow-capped mountains in winter, although snow is rarely found directly in the city.
Installation instructions:
- Extract the .cok and .cok.cid files into the AppData/LocalLow/Colossal Order/Cities Skylines II/Maps folder
- If the "maps" folder does not exist in the specified location, create it.
