Historical military uniforms for Joseon and the Korean Empire

Overview

The Korea Uniform Package by James ((J)KUP) is a fashion designed to add historically inspired uniforms to Korea. Watch Joseon's army evolve from traditional garb to modern combat power with a carefully crafted set of uniforms and customized logic that provides a complete immersion into the game.

KUP users will discover that Joseon soldiers, officers, and commanders will now wear a bungee of certain colors instead of the occasional one based on the colors of the Joseon army's historical uniform. After examining the "General Staff" or "Capsule Rifles", the army's uniform would change to use the black and red uniform of 친군영 (Jinggongyong), part of Joseon's army that has historically stood at the forefront of military modernization efforts.

After the proclamation of the Korean Empire, the uniforms would be modernized: the army would adopt iconic black and red coats and capes, and the navy would adopt clothes remotely based on surviving photographs of the Imperial Korean Navy. After the study of "Longitudinal-slip rifles" or "Trench works", the army uniforms of officers will change slightly, replacing the caps with caps. Uniforms will change once again for the Army after the Junior Command Training study and for the Navy with Aircraft Carriers or Battleships to adopt a more modern style inspired by World Wars and Korean War uniforms that include helmets!

Seasonal uniforms are available mainly for officers, where uniforms can change color or design depending on the current month of the year and technological progress.

I am neither a historian nor a native Korean. I am a Korean-American born in America who has only a superficial interest in the history of Korea. I don't have authoritative sources, and I don't have the motivation or the means to track things like that. I also have very little (if any) 3D modeling experience, so the available resources are limited by what is provided in the base game, what I can extract from the vanilla assets, or other members of the community. The content of this fashion is intended to be historically inspired, but is not 100% historically accurate depictions of uniforms in Korea's military history, similar to the vanilla content of Victoria 3.

KUP requires Community Outfit Mod as a dependency! You must install both modes in order for KUP to work properly.

Modes Compatibility

KUP is designed to work seamlessly with Western Clothes: Redux and East Asian Clothes Patch.

KUP defines all its content in its own files, so it must be compatible with most mods.

However, the following issues can cause conflicts:

Re-recording vanilla models or textures for Korean menswear or European menswear

Providing custom models or clothing definitions for Korean war pops and characters

Any mod that does any of the above may require a compatibility patch to work properly with both mods.

Download Order

Community Outfit Mod is a required dependency. There is no requirement as to where KUP and COM should be placed relative to each other in your playlist; both modes simply need to be included.

KUP positioning against other mods should not matter except for compatibility patches.

Follow any instructions provided by the compatibility patch mods.

If you are having problems with other unrelated mods, place the KUP below (near the bottom) in your playlist.

DLC Requirements

This mode is independent of any DLC features, so you should not need any DLC.
