About This Mod

War between Mexico and the US

The game now features a log entry and a scripted peace deal focusing on the Mexican-American War. Much of the script for this innovation is taken from calvinsoul's Norton's Flavor fashion.

Once the US declares its Fate, it will be given the opportunity to decide on whether to claim northern Mexico. This would immediately trigger a war to subjugate Mexico. Once Mexico becomes a dominion, the US will be offered the following options under the Guadalupe-Hidalgo Treaty:

Annexing the declared territory north of the Rio Grande.

* Annexing the declared territory, including some states south of the Rio Grande.

* All of the above while maintaining the American dominion over Mexico.

Later, the US will get another development proposing a settlement with Mexico. The US will offer financial compensation for annexing Mexican territory in exchange for a reduction in the infection rate.

Purchase of Gadsden

If the US takes the historic route in the Guadalupe-Hidalgo Treaty, parts of Arizona and New Mexico will remain in Mexican possession. The US would be able to offer a one-time payment to purchase the land from Mexico, provided that relations were already high.

Alaskan Purchase

The requirements for this operation have been slightly changed: the US can now initiate a sale if Russia has a rival (or rival) bordering on Alaska (for example, if the UK and Russia are rivals).

Russia may also initiate a sale, which is more likely if it is in dire financial straits.

Exploiting America’s Western Frontier

Now it must not be constantly disrupted. In the past, the failure of one expedition meant that events no longer appeared in subsequent expeditions - that was corrected.

In addition, now the probability of events will be slightly higher each month rather than so that nothing happens or the progress/danger increases gradually, without an event.

Mexican Assignment

In making this decision, the US will now have claims on all Western states that are owned or colonized by Mexico. Initially, this applied only to those states that belonged to Mexico and were not contested by the United States.

If Texas was annexed (either by the US or Mexico), and at least part of it belongs to Mexico, the US would claim the rest of the state. Similarly, if the US annexes Texas, the US will inherit the claim to the rest of the state.

This means that the US will usually get claims on the following states in making a decision:

* California

* Nevada

* Arizona

* New Mexico

* Texas

* Colorado

* Utah

Oregon Treaty

The treaty has been extensively renegotiated. Originally, the treaty only ceded land to the US - now the US will cede land north of the 49th parallel to HBC (or Canada, if it exists) if the US accepts the treaty. The US could also choose "Fifty-four Forty, or Fight!" to scrap the treaty and claim all of British Columbia.

The contract works as follows:

* The initial entry in the US log works normally - once the US controls Montana and Wyoming, the Oregon Trail is displayed (decision to "map the West Coast"), and the relationship is above 20, the UK receives the event.

* The UK may choose to sign the treaty that gives the US Washington, Oregon, and Idaho (AI will always do so), or refuse.

* The US can accept the treaty and cede any US-held territory in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba in exchange for Oregon, Washington, and Idaho (which the AI will always do).

  -OR-

* The U.S. can repudiate the treaty and claim the entire territory of Oregon (Oregon, Washington, Idaho and British Columbia) and retain its Canadian territory.

There is also a fix for the extreme case where HBC/Canada could annex territory in Montana before the US can colonize it by blocking the Oregon Treaty. Now, if Britain or its subject owns part of Montana, the state is "in dispute" and does not block the Oregon Treaty.

Slavery debate

Changes have been made to several interest group settings.

Farmers, clerics, and aristocrats in slave-holding states will now be more likely to join the Southern Planters interest group, giving them more influence. This should make this interest group the strongest political force in the agrarian south.

Clerks will now join the petty bourgeoisie a little more often, which will reduce the influence of the intelligentsia a little.

What I am working on or thinking about (in random order):

* Fixes and settings for the slavery debate and preparations for the US civil war (waiting for more from Paradox before going into it).

* Annexation of Hawaii by America.

* Perry expedition - opening of the Japanese market. Will appear in the next release.

* The Spanish-American War and U.S. interest in Cuba, the Caribbean, and the Spanish Philippines.
