About This Mod

This is an unofficial community fix supported by Grantafer.

Installation instructions.

Since version 0.8, V+ is available in four different versions. See below for detailed instructions on installing these versions.

Note for multiplayer.

To avoid various problems, this mode must be installed in both the game and the server.

If you install this mod and your friends join the game via Steam, they will have to install it too. Click here for installation instructions.

Windows

Games (Steam)

Download the latest version of WindowsClient.zip at this link (GitHub) (scroll down and click on "assets").

Open the game folder by manually searching for it or running the Steam client, right-clicking Valheim in the Steam library and selecting Manage -> Browse local files for Steam.

Extract the contents of the .zip file into the game folder.

Open valheim_plus.cfg under BepInExconfig in a text editor and install the mods you want.

Read "Server Configuration and Version Control (Versioning)".

Servers

This guide does not explain how to create your own server. The following are the steps to install the mod:

Download the latest package called WindowsServer.zip from this link (GitHub) (scroll down and click on "assets").

Extract the contents of the .zip file to the root folder of your server.

Open the valheim_plus.cfg file in the BepInExconfig section with a text editor and configure the mod.

Read the next section about server configuration and version control (version control).

Linux/Unix

Server [Linux/Unix].

This walkthrough does not cover creating your own server. The following are the steps to install the mod:

Download the latest UnixServer.zip package from this link (GitHub) (scroll down and click on "assets").

Extract the contents of the .zip file to the root folder of your server.

Run 'chmod u+x startserverbepinex.sh' to enable the startup script.

Ensure that all downloaded files belong to the owner and group that owns and runs the Valheim server. For example, chown -R steam:steam . /valheim/ and so on.

Set server initialization options:

If you run the script directly, open it and edit the variables at the top (description included in file).

If you want to set the settings elsewhere, transfer them to the start_server_bepinex.sh file, as in the valheim server executable (the description in the file). This method is recommended to be used more often than the first one, because the startup script will be overwritten during the upgrade and you will have to reconfigure it.

If you are using LGSM, you can also specify an executable file in the sample configuration file. You can install it in /start_server_bepinex.sh and download the mode and server arguments; more information about LGSM configuration files can be found on their website.

Be sure to start the server using start_server_bepinex.sh.

[Linux/Unix] games.

Note: It is recommended that you install ValheimPlus before installing other mods, especially mods that use BepInEx.

Download the latest UnixServer.zip package from this link (GitHub) (scroll down and click on "assets").

Locate the Valheim/game folder.

Open the Steam client. Right-click Valheim in the Library tab.

Select Manage ᡺ Browse Local Files and record the location.

Make sure the path to the game folder is correct:

my_path=/replace/with/your/path/to/common/Valheim/.

test -e $my_path/Valheim_Data && echo «$my_path is valid.» || echo «$my_path is invalid :(».

Back up your games folder, extract the package, add the necessary permissions, and complete the installation:

mkdir $my_path/. /Valheim.`date +%Y-%m-%d` && cp -br $my_path/* $_ && echo "Backup Created"

unzip -o ~/Downloads/UnixServer.zip -d $my_path

chmod u+x $my_path/start_game_bepinex.sh

Return to the Steam client. Right-click Vargame on the Library tab.

Select Properties.

In the window that opens, select "Startup Options". In /start_game_bepinex.sh %command%, add the following:

(In rare cases where this command does not work, use bash /start_game_bepinex.sh %command% instead)

Use libc6-dev

Most hosting sites do not allow you to load scripts or make your own scripts executable (for very good reasons). You will have to wait for your hosting provider to adapt V+ to your server.

DIY Valheim and Valheim+ installer for dedicated server:

The Njord Installer provided by ZeroBandwidth and the command makes it easy to configure a dedicated Valheim server installed on Ubuntu Linux. This menu system will allow you to play Valheim in vanilla mode or Valheim+ with full simulation power.

Questions and support for Njord Menu can be directed to the Njord Menu support community.

Njord Menu Github Page

Please read the following section about server configuration and versioning (about versioning).

What happens if a game update comes out?

In the worst case, game updates will not more than partially break some ValheimPlus features. If you are having problems, use the Steam Integrity Check feature and wait for all files to be downloaded/updated.

This should fix all problems. If the problem persists, contact our help channel on the discord server for assistance.

Server configuration and version control (in release application)

If you have enabled the "Server" section and enforceMod in the fashion configuration, only players with the same version of fashion will be able to join your server, and you will only be able to join servers with the same version of fashion installed.

If you have enabled Server and serverSyncsConfig in the mode configuration, all players joining your server will receive the server configuration.

This system works reliably and does not cause any problems. If you are having problems, you may have misconfigured your configuration or your server/client may not be running v+.

This system works reliably and there are no problems. Any problems that occur are likely due to a misconfiguration or if the v+ is not running on the server/client.

Configuration file.

The configuration file is called valheim_plus.cfg and must be placed in the BepInExconnfig folder.

All V+ features can be turned off/on via a configuration file, and all settings are turned off by default.

By default, BepInEx㊤config㊤plus.cfg is created the first time you start a game or server.

Older versions of the Valheim Plus configuration are automatically upgraded to the new version.

When a server is hosted, if the serverSyncsConfig option is enabled on the server partition, the server configuration file overwrites the client configuration file when connected.

By default, when you place a server using V+, you must install only the server configuration file (in the server file).

When hosting for other players via Steam, all players require V+ and receive local settings from the game folder of the server.
