About This Mod

Dark Theme for TF2

A remedy for obsessive whiteness that burns your eyes every time you try to edit/control or create something.

Functions

Hmmm... Healthier colors?

I apologize, but nothing in common at the moment comes to mind - please see the photos.

Settings

  • Lighting conditions — At the moment, I prefer a dark morning with longer shadows and a little mist, so there is one option, but since not everyone can share my taste — it's just an option (however, a contrast explosion when switching between editing mode and a standard view without any kind of fashion to shade the light can be painful), and at the moment I offer only one — Dawn, with the option "Moderate" to choose if the original "Blanked" seems too dark.
  • Line Colors - If you want to use a vanilla palette or any other mod with a higher load order than DSF - just disable this option, but I strongly recommend trying one of the native palettes at least once, because a significant portion of them have been specially adapted for darker DSF roads, and they (mostly) fit well, I hope.
  • Terrain layer brightness - If you consider (old) to be too dark/dark by default, two additional options are available (new default option is moderate).
  • Entities melted with the landscape (new in 1.4) - I find it quite funny and better than the default (cons: trees sometimes look strange when you turn on LOD, but... this is just an option).
  • Disappearing Icons (def: OFF) — Not important setting — some blending icons will disappear earlier (what else can I say? yeah! these static... ports, stations and other mess that makes no sense to me when it comes out of the fog, while i don't really need to press it or anything like that - see figure). Check it and turn it off safely if you don't like it.

Security

DSF is safe for SAVEGAME, turn it on/off anytime, at least that's what I think after trying it many times without problems. However, I can still be wrong, and I definitely take no responsibility for what I say. By using this mod, you acknowledge and accept this statement.

Incompatibility (visual only)

  • It is possible that every mod that plays a vanilla white tint on the layers will interfere with or destroy the intended DSF effect, so either disable them, or put a DSF at the bottom of your mod list and run the game at least once, click on all layers and route/station editing modes to see if you still need these other mods. The point is that if you see some white spot where you have not put it yourself - it is the responsibility of some other mod;
  • everything that changes the colors of the lines - all the palettes that i have seen so far, more or less fit the whitish reality of vanilla, so... Using them with DSF can cause finding the right color for your lines to be a little tricky, if possible.
