Research Reinvented addon
About This Mod
Think of inventing a humble mini-turret.
In vanilla rimworld the process would look like this
Settlers sit down at the research table and stare at it for five weeks.
In Research Reinvented, this process involves one of the following
A reworking of an existing turret captured by the command.
A reworking of an existing turret captured by the command.
Analysis of the raw material to determine its strength as a turret armor.
Experiment with steel to find effective substitutes for gun barrel.
Check what modifications of standard submachine guns and auto guns will make them the best weapon for the turret.
Build a prototype turret even if it takes a long time and requires immediate changes to the final product.
Harnessing these research capabilities can speed progress considerably. However, if they are not available, theoretical research at a rate equivalent to vanilla research can be used as a fallback (this rate can be reduced in the fashion settings if you prefer an incentive to search for opportunities).
Research opportunities are generated dynamically based on research projects unlocked in the game.
Most mods are supported immediately.
Fashions that change only the choice of research projects (e.g. ResearchPal, Semi Random Research, Dubs' Mint Menus) work without problems.
Exceptions can be made for mods that introduce their own research systems.
