About This Mod

Breakthrough weapons are rarely used in vanilla rimworld's, as bare fists are enough to cut through mountains, not to mention walls and doors. This mod fixes the situation by reducing all types of damage to buildings except those used by breakout weapons. From now on it is recommended to carry a breakout ax!


Technical Details.


This can be done using the game's own tags: buildingDamageFactorPassable and buildingDamageFactorImpassable. Impenetrable buildings are mostly walls, but passable buildings are everything else (e.g. doors).


List of changes:


Acute damage: cut, punch, poke, scratch, bite.

Impenetrable: 10

Passing: 40.


Frozen Damage: Frozen, Crash.

Impossible: 30

Passing %50.


Long-range damage: Ranged Knife, Bullet, Arrow.

Unable to pass: %20.

Pass: %20


'Blast*' Damage: Bomb.

Unbreakable: 80

Passing %100.


* Grenade damage type is special and already by default has a bonus to damage on buildings, i.e. 4x to the impenetrable and 2x to the passable. Because the walls take 2 damage from grenades and projectiles, the estimated damage from the fragmentation grenade is 50 x 4 x 2 = 400, which can completely destroy the slate wall with one shot!


If you change the bonus by 0.8, then the grenade damage is 80 for the walls and 100 for the doors. Antigrana warheads deal 418 damage to walls when fired at close range, but this number can be changed.


In addition, maces, clubs, and hammer-shaped weapons (i.e., "head" weapons dealing "blunt" damage) will be modified to deal a new type of damage called "Blunt Strike".

The 'BreachingAxe' defense seems to use a third tag, buildingDamageFactor, which is multiplied before buildingDamageFactorImpassable.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.


How will this fashion affect the walls?

This mod does not affect the walls. It simply makes all damage types in the game do less damage to buildings, except for the special damage used by Breaching Axe and Thump Cannon.


What to do with modified weapons?

Most modified weapons use the same type of damage as vanilla so it's okay. If the mod has a unique type of damage, please let us know in the comments.


What about CE compatibility?

Combat Extended already has a patch that makes bullets and arrows do very little damage to all buildings. We'll try to see if we can make it compatible, but at the moment there are some issues that need to be fixed.
