Ether is the energy that permeates all living things on Idalen, giving it life and forming the basis of magical effects and spells. All Hyderin natives have the "airflow" effect, manipulating the ether to create objects, learning about Eorzean technology, and using etheric weapons and devices.

Almost all of Eorzea's technologies are based on ether manipulation, so only an Eorzean native who owns a streaming ether can discover such technologies.

Essential crystals

An etheric crystal is a physical manifestation in which the energy of the ether condenses in the form of a crystal. Essential crystals are typically tuned to specific elements and used to create objects by synthesizing the ether and powering the ether and magitech devices.

In their home kingdom of Gidelin, the ether filled the entire star, and the ether crystals could easily be collected or mined on Earth, but in the Frontier World this was no longer the case. However etheric crystals in the world are not found in raw form, but in air and on the ground there are familiar energies which can be used by those who have current ether:

Earth crystals can be extracted from rocks in an air focus or on a workbench. They are used in ethereal blacksmithing, armor and leather.

Fire crystals can be extracted from wood or chemical fuel in air focus or on a workbench. They are used in cooking and blacksmithing.

Ice crystals can be extracted from rocks in the focus of etheric water. They are used in carpentry and armory work, as well as for the preservation of products for long-term storage.

Zipper crystals can be removed from the steel in air focus or on the desktop. They are used in ethereal weaving and alchemy.

Water crystals can be extracted from the focus of ethereal water. They are used in ethereal cooking and alchemy.

Wind crystals are used in carpentry, leather processing and weaving.

In addition to hand synthesis, etheric crystals are a simple magical device that automatically condenses natural energy hidden in the environment into an ether that is convenient to use outdoors or without a roof.:

The ice pack produces ice crystals when it snows (but not rains).

Lightning accumulators slowly produce lightning crystals during thunderstorms and also attract them to themselves.

Lightning strikes on its own, dispersing the blow and turning it into an ether.

Water accumulators form crystals of water when it rains (but not when it snows).

The wind accumulator generates wind crystals depending on the speed of the local wind.

Geothermal accumulators generate ground or fire crystals if placed in steam geysers. (Requires in-depth investigation of batteries)

Eternal weapon

The weapon, created by the Eorzei masters, may look like a primitive medieval weapon, but it is impregnated with ether and therefore has a simple design.

In the hands of those with a flowing ether, melee weapons increase armor damage and penetrability, while ranged weapons increase projectile damage, range, and speed.

Alchemy

Ethereal alchemy is a school of crafts that specializes in the production of potions and elixirs with healing and improving properties from conventional materials and reagents.

In addition to producing their own alchemists, which are almost as effective as commercially produced drugs, Eorgian alchemists were able to heal wounds in emergencies or to speed the healing of injured settlers.

When used on oneself and others, the potion will randomly heal up to 5 wounds in small amounts and will likely heal these wounds if left unattended. However, it should be noted that potions not only heal wounds, but also do not cure even middle-qualified surgeons.

Anything that can be treated in low doses can be dangerous or lethal when taken in high doses. All alchemical products when used cause alchemical toxicity. It is usually harmless with a single dose and disappears after about 1 day, but repeated use of alchemical agents can cause alchemical shock or even death.

Ethereum

The Ether Stone, which forms the basis of many large Eorzei settlements, is a structure consisting of many large crystals attached to a secret mechanism that acts as a beacon for teleportation.

In the extreme world, there’s not enough air, but once you unlock Ethereum Exploration, you’ll also have access to a Anima pendant. It is a bulky device that "attracts anime" to the owner, preventing him from using it again for 24-48 hours.

Additional research opens up the possibility of creating a pendant filled with anime. It is much more expensive and requires much more crystalline dust, but it is strong enough to teleport the wearer without going through the ether.
