Let's face it, runic magic is cool. It's a fantastic idea to put words of power together to unleash the power that's hidden within them. The existing runic spells were good, but I always felt like they were missing something. I imagine that something is missing...

Without complicating the system, I was able to add new unique combat spells and a set of new enhancements. When you start the game, you will find that your repertoire has been updated before you dive into the skill tree of the Runic Sage. On the base you will have access to 2 offensive spells, some buffs/effects you are familiar with, and one that is brand new. However, the real magic begins when you pick up Arcane Syntax.
In addition to unlocking a new combo for offensive spells, Arcane Syntax also allows you to adjust to one of the elements. You can do this by playing any of the runes twice (e.g. Gasket + Gasket). This dramatically changes the way all new spells work. Your offensive spells will match the elements you are attuned to and behave differently than before. Combinations remain the same for each schematic and share the same overall goal as other combinations of the same combination.
So we'll have more than 20 new spells. Since 15 of them are offensive, the caster will have new combat abilities they never had before. But that is not all.
Runic Set Top Box works differently with these new spells. Instead of passively increasing your spells, it unlocks a new level of runic magic. All your attacking spells can now be cast with a different rune before the combination you have already cast, prefixed if you like. In exchange for the extra mana and time spent on the spell, you gain a more powerful effect. It's different for each spell. Some are just getting stronger, some are now imposing a debate, but all will be vastly more powerful to offset the costs.
However, the disadvantage you will encounter when dealing with such a wide range of spells is that you will need more precision in casting spells. Some spells may not work if you have recently spoken words that are not part of their own combination. So if you play the wrong rune in panic, you'll either have to wait for it to disappear, or you'll have to adapt to the situation and cast another spell using that rune.
