About This Mod

Brief description and features

This mod uses ReShade to prevent the game from displaying the yellow and red "climbing annotations" that appear whenever you use Focus.

By default, the game starts with focus disabled. The default key to turn them on/off is Caps Lock, but this can be configured through the ReShade in-game interface. Switching yellow and red highlights can be assigned to different keys according to your desire.

Install if you are not already using ReShade + ShaderToggler with Horizon Forbidden West:

Download Reshade "with full add-on support" from the bottom of this page: https://reshade.me.

Extract exe ReShade to the folder you choose and run it.

Select Horizon Forbidden West from the list of games detected by Reshade.

Select DirectX 10/11/12

You can set any of the options on the following pages or none of them, they don't matter.

Download Shader Toggler from https://github.com/FransBouma/ShaderToggler.

From the Shader Toggler zip archive, copy "ShaderToggler.addon64" to the Horizon Forbidden West root directory (folder with "HorizonForbiddenWest.exe", probably "[where you installed Steam]\SteamApps\common\Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition").

Copy the mod's "ShaderToggler.ini" file to the same folder.

Start the game.

Press Home to open the ReShade in-game menu. ReShade will launch a tutorial to guide you through the user interface. Then click the Add-ons tab and expand the Shader Toggler group to see the settings for this mod. Click "edit" to change the hotkeys, then "ok" when you're done, and remember to save your changes.

For more information on how to use ShaderToggler, see the ReadMe in the zip archive.

Install if you already use ReShade + ShaderToggler with Horizon Forbidden West:

Extract the "ShaderToggler.ini" file of this mod to any place except the HFW game folder.

Save "ShaderToggler.ini" in Notepad (or your text editor).

Navigate to the Horizon Forbidden West game folder and open the existing ShaderToggler.ini file.

Copy the .ini contents of this mod file to the end of the existing .ini file.

Renumber the "groups" of this mode so that they follow those that are already in the file, for example, if you already have groups 0-7, change the groups of this mode to 8 and 9.

At the beginning of the file, increase the number of groups by 2. In the example in the previous step, you change it from 8 to 10.

Start the game.
