About This Mod

The shifting tide of time confronts the crumbling old empire, and a new golden age of kingdoms ensues: the 1815 Congress of Vienna established the Pax Britannica and Britain's standing as the world's lord of the British Isles and its ever-expanding empire. It is an unprecedented, uninhibited, unrivaled power, and no one dares to challenge Her Majesty the Queen's Royal Navy. While the British Empire reigns as the world’s greatest power, eclipsed by the autonomous states of Germany and Italy, there have been calls for freedom and unity since the 1848 revolution. In the New World, the Spanish and Portuguese empires collapsed, and new states emerged in South America. In the north, the United States of America, known as the "land of the free", was concerned about slavery and the consequences of the "Manifesto of Destiny" at the expense of the indigenous peoples of the West. In the Far East, the shoguns’ authority was questioned by the Council of Shogunates, Perry’s and Western’s weapons forced unequal treaties, another war over opium and trade flared up in China, and the powers questioned the authority of the Qing and its vassals. Recent conflicts have reshaped and redrawn lines of influence. But in a constantly developing, industrial world lurks a lot of former states, ready to open up, conquer or defeat...


While many other regimes offer drawing maps, our feature is very simple: instead of drawing a map of your chosen world, you write the national newspapers of your country. You compete with the great powers for prestige and influence, challenge their political power, and determine your place on the world stage. Choose one of many historically authentic and detailed countries and lead your nation through tumultuous and energetic times. Transform your country into a Victorian power by changing the fates of millions of people through political, economic, and diplomatic solutions.

Through political infighting, technological progress, and international and industrial rivalry, Hearts of Iron IV is a book in which you can tell your own story, whether your country’s rise to prosperity or its fall. As countries struggle for power and glory, overcoming division and oppression, the events that will unfold begin with the collapse of Indian rule in the infamous Sipai uprising. The battle for Africa will determine the winners and losers in the colonial race, and a war that ends all wars awaits those who rise to the top. But will it be the end or the beginning? Or the end of a new beginning? Fate is in your hands.
