About This Mod
A realistic 1:1 scale map of Seattle, Wash., with topographic and bathymetric data provided by USGS and NOAA (mapping services and data available from the U.S. Geological Survey, National Geospatial Program). The elevation map has been translated, integrated and exported to QGIS. The map includes hundreds of thousands of trees placed by me by hand, and three spectacular special interchanges made by my friend and cartographer Siday.
The coastline and water edges have been adjusted correctly by hand; I-5 crosses the entire map from north to south; I-5 is the main landmark on the map. The Lacey V. Murrow Floating Bridge provides external connectivity to the east. Added major railway arteries and shipping lanes that allow planes to land. Three golf courses - Interbay Golf Centre, Broadmoor Golf Club and Jackson Park Golf Course - are represented by intermediate greens, ferveys and sand quarries. Particular attention was paid to the coastline along the Washington Shipping Canal, Lake Union and Union Bay.
Two detailed map overlays have been created in the coordinate system of the map EPSG:25833: one is the Open Street Map diagram, the other is the Google satellite image, both measuring 16834 x 16834 pixels. Both are 16834 x 16834 pixels. They work best in Algernon’s new "Image Overlay" mode.
