About This Mod
Realistic map of Seattle, Washington, on a scale of 1:1. Terrain and bathymetry data obtained from USGS and NOAA (mapping services and data available at the US Geological Survey, National Geospatial Program) were used. Height maps have been processed, merged and exported using QGIS. There are hundreds of thousands of hand-laid trees on the map, as well as three epic user intersections created by my friend and fellow cartographer Siday.
Coastlines and ponds were manually cleaned and adjusted. I-5 runs through the map from north to south. The Lacey W. Merrow Floating Bridge provides a link to the east. Major railways and shipping channels have been added, and planes are already preparing to land. Three golf courses were represented with greenzones, fairways and sand traps - Interbay Golf Center, Broadmoor Golf Club and Jackson Park Golf Course. Particular attention is paid to the shoreline of the Washington Shipping Canal, Lake Union and Union Bay.
Two detailed overlays were created in the EPSG:25833 coordinate system. One is a Open Street Map scheme, the other is a satellite orthophoto from Google, both with a resolution of 16834x16834 pixels. They work best with algernon's new Image Overlay mod.
