About This Mod

In a vanilla game, for any source in which there is a player character, there are two mechanisms that lead to the end of the game - one is the actual death of the player character, and the other is a check of the winning condition, which, if not satisfied, forcibly kills all the brothers on the list and forces the game to end.


This mod disables both of these mechanisms in a way that matches the main game. Brothers with the player's character trait will always, all other things being equal, be forced to lose consciousness, not perish (and therefore immune to death), and defeat on the battlefield (all brothers dead or unconscious, and at least one brother alive) no longer results in the end of the game. Brothers without the player's character traits remain mortal. Players' characters become mortal again when they receive too many permanent injuries sustained in consecutive defeats (adjustable).


Perseverance does not render one completely immune to all deadly blows. Players' characters can still be killed in the following ways:


  • be swallowed whole by 3rd-level nahzerers and not kill them until the end of the fight,
  • devoured by crackens,
  • remain enchanted or in a nightmare/dormant state towards the end of the fight,
  • for background-specific events, if and only if modified scripts, backgrounds, or events that allow them are used,
  • and if the configurable threshold for irreversible injuries is exceeded due to too many irreversible injuries received.
