I can hardly hold back my delight - I'm sorry!

I have long dreamed that it was possible to switch the menu with one button and flycam for good screenshots. Ever since Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Skyrim, I've dreamed of being able to enter console commands with hotkeys. While the scripting extenders for these games allowed for the use of "hot keys", the console commands were never available. Now, in Fallout 4, this is possible.

And that's thanks to... drum shot... Bethesda! After digging into exe, I found that Fallout 4 does support hotkeys, but they were disabled in the traditional Bethesda style.

I'm very happy to share this with you.

★ Installing ★

You have a choice between the full and lite versions. The full version includes a simple in-game hot key manager, with which you can assign and change the assignments of equipment items to hot key slots. He handles the equipment of the tied items for you and also checks if the item is in your inventory before equipping it. When you start the game, Hotkey Manager will be added to the AID section of your inventory.

The light version does not add anything to the game, except for enabling hotkeys. You can configure the shortcuts manually by editing the Hotkeys.ini file.

Full Version

Use your mod manager or download and unpack your mod to the Data directory.

Lite

Download and decompress the mod, then open the install_hotkeys.cmd file to place the desired files in the desired location.

Lite (manual)

Go to <Documents>\My Games\Fallout4\ and open Fallout4Custom.ini. Add bUseConsoleHotkeys=1 and sConsoleINI=Data\Hotkeys.ini under the [Menu] section heading. If it does not exist, create it.

Now copy Hotkeys.ini from the mod to the Fallout 4 Data directory and then copy the rest of the files.

★ How to use ★

By default, the installation includes two hotkeys so you can verify that you have configured them correctly. While in the game, press F2 to toggle the visibility of the menu, and F3 to toggle the free-flight camera.

If you have installed the full version of the game, the keys Z, G, B, Y, H, N, U by default will be mapped to slots 1-7 respectively in the Hotkey Manager (not in the favorites menu!). Simply assign items through the included Hotkey Manager and the appropriate keys will activate them.

The Shift-1 - Shift-10 keys are also tied to slots 1-10.

To reconfigure the key mapping to the keys you want, read on.

Using Hotkey Manager

If you have installed the full version, the hotkey manager will be added to the Help section of your inventory. With it you can assign equipment/items to hot key slots.

To select an item to snap to, select the hotkey slot in Hotkey Manager, and then select the item you want to snap from the inventory. You will then be notified that the item has been successfully bound.

Hotkey Manager is designed only for controlling which items are tied to a particular slot - to change the key binding, see the next section.

Add / Edit Hot Keys / Console Command Hot Keys

After installation,

☢ Hotkeys.ini will be created in your Data folder. Your shortcuts will be saved to it. You can edit this file to add hotkeys.

☢ The Hot Keys console command will also be enabled. You can register new hotkeys in the game using the hotkey console command.

Format: hotkey <binding key> <binding function>.

Examples:

F2 tfc hotkey

B tm hotkey

Shift-1 tgm hotkey

To specify a key binding for items that are bound using the hotkey manager, type: hotkey <key to bind> hot <hotkey slot>.

For example, the Z hot 1 hotkey will bind the Z key to slot 1 in the Hot Key Manager.

Remove Shortcuts

Console command: hotkey <Anchor key>.

For example, to unpin the F2 key, type hotkey F2.

Note that if you assign a hotkey to something already attached in the game, the hotkey will take precedence! This gives you the option to override some default features, such as replacing VATS with Bullet Time.
