About This Mod

Description.


Ka-50, known in the West as the "Black Shark" or "Werewolf", was a single-seat Soviet attack helicopter designed to destroy enemy weapons, firing points and forces on the battlefield.


With no second crew in charge of target acquisition and guided weapons system guidance, Ka-50 employed unconventional external target engagement tactics from a reconnaissance helicopter.


Ka-50's combat tactics consist of patrolling, which is carried out in the waiting area until the information is received via a closed telescopic communication channel. Information about the position of the helicopter, terrain and target coordinates is displayed on the information field in the Ka-50 cockpit. Climbing to the target is carried out with accuracy up to several meters. The helicopter carries out air strikes and immediately leaves the area of possible anti-aircraft fire.


The Ka-50 helicopter was developed by the Kamov Design Bureau under the leadership of Chief Designer Sergey Mikhchev and entered service in 1995.


Production ceased in January 2009, and only improved versions of the Ka-52 will be produced in the future.
