The Palace of the Soviets is an unfinished project for the construction of a high-rise administrative building in Moscow for meetings of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and mass demonstrations. The height of the Palace of Soviets and the 100-meter statue of Vladimir Lenin according to the plan of the architect Boris Iofan was 415 meters. The palace was to become the center of the new Soviet Moscow and the tallest building in the world, symbolizing the victory of socialism. The design and construction of the palace marked the transition of Soviet architecture to the Stalinist Empire.
Preparation works have started on the site - excavation of the ground and the construction of the foundation. The foundation of the building consisted of 2 concrete rings with diameters of 140 and 160 m and a height of 21 m. It was planned to create a framework of the structure and place in the ring 62,000 steel columns capable of withstanding the load of about 64 tons.
