About This Mod

Enhances vanilla images with depth and realism of light, fine-grained sharpness, and color correction.

CHIM's main goal is to add more realistic lighting and depth to ESO's rather flat visuals.

This is achieved through several effects

Surrounding lighting: Areas that should be dark are darkened (including night and caves, but not so much as to affect gameplay). Bright light is naturally blurred, the effect of the intensity of light on the ground becomes more realistic, etc. Most of the depth is achieved by this effect.

Color correction: Color correction in ESO is usually a bit aggressive; with CHIM, the Cold Harbor will still be blue and Apocryphus will be green, but the colors are usually more realistic and don't look like "someone has drawn a thin layer of chalk".

Tone overprinting: Many games tend to have a very low-contrast image, which results in a flat picture, and ESO is no exception. CHIM adjusts the shadows/halftones/high lights so that light sources are allocated slightly more without significantly changing the overall atmosphere. Light tones don't burn out, and black tones don't overload.

Adaptive sharpening: A thin sharpening process to make details more visible.

Subsurface scattering? Plants react more realistically to sunlight. Coming soon.

CHIM is a very simple, thin vanilla+ preset.

My goal was to make the standard view and ESO palette stand out. There are many beautiful presets that change the standard look dramatically and beautifully, but for the basic game I usually prefer simply to improve the vanilla look rather than completely change the atmosphere.

This is my game preset. It will probably improve as I continue to work on it, but I've been working on it for months now and I think it's reliable enough to set it up as a backup for itself and share with others who like vanilla-plus visuals.

On my once powerful but now aging machine, I can extract the most from all ESO visuals while still maintaining 60 frames per second.
