About This Mod
Simply adjusts the HDR in STALKER 2 to better use the range and color space without styling anything. Follow the instructions, otherwise!
Why it is necessary:
STALKER 2 does not currently use the extended range provided by HDR, so I tried to expand the details that are present so that they are displayed throughout the range without trimming/pressure/loss of any color or brightness information.
This is for those who are not looking for a stylized Reshade or other fake HDR implementation. You need a real HDR display and HDR enabled in the STALKER 2 settings. If you don't like something, please feel free to change it. There is only a slight added saturation and sharpness.
I installed this on the AORUS FO32U2 4K OLED HDR display set to 1000 nits. Your display may look very different than mine, but this option should be pretty close to what you’re looking for, provided it’s working in 1000 nits mode.
Please feel free to use this as a base level to create your own presets. Most of the available repainting presets do not currently work on HDR installations. I'd like to see more HDR-oriented presets from people. Have fun!
Instructions
Step 1: Install Reshade (single game). Download all things. It depends almost entirely on Lilium's work on HDR(TY Lilium!), so make sure you choose them when prompted by the Reshade installer.
Step 2: Drop my Reshade preset in the reshade-shaders folder. Here's my path as an example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chornobyl\Stalker2\Binaries\Win64\reshade-shaders».
Step 3: Run the game, select the display settings that I specified below.
Step 4: Restart the game if necessary
Step 5: Download the repainting preset
Optional: SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW to enable the HDR analysis tool for your own testing/customization.
In-game settings:
Contrast: 75
Brightness: 42
Gamma: 30
HDR: Enabled
Black HDR Point: -10
White HDR Point: 1000
Brightness HDR: 60
HDR interface brightness: It's up to you, but I have a minimum value.
Reshade addon settings: (it is important to make sure 'AutoHDR' is NOT enabled)
