Here are 5 alternatives to leather helmet, offering improved protection:
1. **Metal Helmet:** Excellent protection against physical impacts and cuts. Heavier than leather, but much safer. Different types, from simple spherical to complex designs with tabs, are available.
2. **Polycarbonate/Thermoplastic Helmet:** Modern materials providing excellent impact resistance at low weight. Often used in motorcycle helmets and safety helmets for sports. Inexpensive and easily accessible.
3. **Kevlar helmet (or composite helmet):** Kevlar, an extremely durable and lightweight material, is often combined with other materials to create helmets offering superior protection against ballistic threats and impacts. A more expensive option, mainly used for tactical purposes.
