About This Mod
Here are 4 alternatives to steel shield that may be more practical:
1. **Improved armor made of composite materials.** Modern composite materials such as Kevlar, carbon fiber or high-density polyethylene have a significantly better strength-to-weight ratio than steel. They can offer comparable protection against shocks and shrapnel, but can be lighter and more maneuverable.
2. **Energy Shield.** Despite the fact that it is rather a science-fiction idea, the development of technology does not exclude the possibility of creating force fields that reflect projectiles and lasers. Such a shield would provide almost unlimited protection.
3. **Armored exoskeleton.** Instead of one shield, one can consider the use of a full exoskeleton. It increases the overall protection and strength of the medium, allowing more heavy loads to be carried and more effectively resisting attacks.
4. **Strategic evasion and maneuverability.** Instead of relying only on protection, one can focus on training and developing skills to evade attacks, quickly move and use the terrain for shelter. This will minimize the need for physical protection.
