About This Mod

A simple tutorial to explain how to combine modes

Hello,

You want to use different modes, but they overwrite each other.

You're in the right place. We start with the basics, it is very easy for you to rely on them :)

Some basics

First of all, it's important to note that mod is mostly enabled. You should understand that this is a file pack. With mbin.dds files.

Of course. The mbin file is used for customization.dds is for textures.

If there is a conflict when using multiple modes, files modified by the mode will also be modified by another mode.

This is why some mods have been released as "___mymod" because the order is important, so it is likely that something will not work. Hence the importance of unification.

If there is a problem, you need to check 2 things :

_ This is the last mode. => If yes, go to the next step and if not, try contacting the author.

_ A file modified by one mode and modified by another mode. => If yes, you need to merge them if you want to keep both.

Before you continue, be sure to back up the mode you are trying to change, if at some point you get confused, you can back up the mode.

External Software

Now you only need three software and plugins for defragmentation :

Extract _psarctool.Park

Check Out _Mbincompiler.mbin (Get Latest Version)

_Notepad ++ To perform defragmentation (get the latest version, 64 or 32 bits, depending on your computer, please check here)

_ Compare to make defragmentation easier (again, check using the latest version, 64-bit or 32-bit, depending on your computer)

PSArcTool and MBINCompiler are not installers, so back them up to a folder such as "NMSEdit".

Install Notepad ++ and after installing it, open the downloaded comparison archive and place its contents in a folder named ComparePlugin.C:\Program File \Notepad++ \ Plugins" or "C:\Program 32-bit (x86) \Notepad ++ \ plugins".

Download complete. Congratulations, now let's merge modes :)

Combination

You need to identify the problem file, that is, one that is used by 2 or more mods.Refer to the description on the mode page. The author writes: "Other modes are xxx. Pay attention to this file when you say it "should work if you don't change the mbin".If there are too many mods to remember the files that the mod has changed, and you do so for each mode you use, this is the only way to make sure that nothing is overwritten when you set the new mode. Then, if you notice a file edited in 2 modes, you have it.

Move the conflicting modes to the NMSEdit folder and place each mode in a separate subfolder.Say "Mode A" and "Mode B". Open two windows, one in Nmsedit and the other in A.Pak mode in Psarktula.exe processes the mode and extracts the content. Release now.mbin to mbincompiler. The executable will make it editable.exml files. It does the same for mode B.

It will create 2 windows as above and you will be able to see the difference between the 2 files. Dec For example, here mode A changes a cosmic unit to a normal unit, and mode B hides the amount of damage done in combat. What has changed mode B is indicated by line 3 in the comparison navigation bar, which indicates that the file has the above differences. You want to merge 2 modes: merged files have their own changes, but some of them have been added by other modes.

Here 3 indicates the change by changing the value, which is a B mode point, directly to false. There are only 1 mode change from A to B and only 3 mode changes from B to B. A.In this example is not important, but it is similar to some of them. AMI.exml can have hundreds of changes compared to other modes, so it always goes the simplest way :)

Now you just need to save the changes and delete the old.mbin, leave your changes. XML on MBINCompiler.Pack unified modes with exe, psarctool.exe, and you're ready to go. In this example, we changed mode A to be the same as mode B, and changed what mode A does. But mode B consisted of a single file: the file from which we got the change. If your mode consists of more conflicting files, you need to put mode B in the MODS folder, but you need to delete the files that received the changes.

That's all. I hope it was clear enough, otherwise do not hesitate to ask in the comments.

Have fun :)
