About This Mod

Chisels & Bytes is an add-on to AlgorithmX2's Chisels & Bits Mod. Chisels & Bytes Mod (1.11.2) allows you to export Chisels & Bits blocks and constructs as description files for the OpenComputers Mod 3D printer. and can only work on the client side.

3D printing has two advantages over Chisels & Bits:

3D printers are available in OpenComputers for Minecraft 1.7.10, so with this mod you can transfer your creations from Chisel & Bits to Minecraft 1.7.10, but with limitations.

3D printing has some features that C&B blocks do not. First of all, they can have two states. Depending on the configuration, you can emulate the behavior of doors, switches and buttons. Second, you can adjust the unit to emit light, regardless of what it is made of. Finally, you can configure collisions for each state. For more information, install the print3d-examples package through oppm and look at the sample file (/usr/share/models/example.3dm).

How to use.

Once the mode is set, hold the Chisels & Bits box in your hand and (default) press the Next/Page Up key. The script will be copied to the clipboard and can be pasted directly into the in-game OpenComputers editor or into your favorite out-of-game text editor to make changes. The data is formatted for use in the print3d program available in the OpenComputers oppm Package Manager.

If the Chisels & Bits box is in the hot-panel slot to the right of the active object (or outside the hand), it is used as the active state for 3D printing.

The latest version added limited fluid support. With Sneaking, you can change the use of static or fluid textures for liquid bits. In addition, if the C&B block/design contains emission bits, the corresponding option is set in the description file.

Limitations:

By default, the OpenComputers 3D printer can only make 24 shapes. Mod tries to minimize the number of forms, but complex blocks easily exceed this limit. You can change this limit in the OpenComputers configuration file (maxShapes in the printer section).

If you are migrating your project to Minecraft 1.7.10, you will have to manually adjust the textures in the file. Textures in Minecraft 1.9 -> Minecraft 1.8 are not guaranteed.

[Minecraft 1.9+] Minecraft 1.9 removed the method used to read the color of FlatColouredBlocks blocks, so it was necessary to write special code for the mode. It can be broken every time FlatColouredBlocks is updated, but it does not cause any failures.

Liquid bits are now partially supported. This is limited by the functionality of 3D printing, the liquid is not translucent and can only use static or fluid textures.

Design export is now supported, but rotation is ignored. Negative designs are intentionally disabled.
