About This Mod

Inspired by the idea of UniDict: older versions of Minecraft used a system called Ore Dictionary. Its purpose was to make life easier for modders when adding new resources that might already exist in other mods. If used correctly, it was possible to use resources from different mods interchangeably in recipes. However, if you've played with large mod packs in the past, you probably know that there were ten different ingots for each material because so many mods added them. This meant that there was often not enough storage space, since not all resources from different mods were added together. Additionally, some mods used dictionaries incorrectly in their recipes, so a lot of resources were wasted. UniDict solved this problem by combining the same resources from different mods, leaving only one item from each resource available for all recipes. This means that instead of 10 different copper ingots, you only have one that acts as the dominant all-purpose copper ingot; A lot of time has passed since 1.12.2, and the Ore Dictionary has long disappeared. The current modded version of Minecraft has a tag system that works much like an ore dictionary. However, this does not solve the problem of having many identical resources from different mods, and Almost Unified Mod (1.20.1) attempts to solve this by working similarly to UniDict. Its goal is to have one dominant resource for each configured tag and force all recipes to use that dominant entry.

Example:

Suppose you have two mods (modA and modB), and both add Silver Ore. Additionally, they both add silver bars, and both add recipes for producing bars, such as explosion or smelting ore, respectively.

If one of these recipes does not accept a label as input, Almost Unify will change it . Additionally, it selects one of the silver bars as the dominant item according to the mod's priority list in the unify.json config. The dominant silver bar is then used as the output of all recipes, regardless of the mod.

After the unification process, you will have several of the same recipes; Almost Unified will merge them and change the namespace so you know the recipe has changed. Finally, you will have a recipe that takes tags as input and only dominant items as output. Duplicate recipes are excluded.

Features.

The mod converts existing recipes into a single list of resources that players and pack creators can work with. No unique recipes, resources, ore generation, or similar content will be added.

Since unification has the potential for duplicate recipes, Almost Unified processes and removes duplicates.

Additionally, it automatically hides all non-dominant entries from JEI/REI.

The mod is completely reloadable. The configuration is loaded every time the unification process starts. To restart the process, either return to the world or use the /reload command.
