Norway extended

It is a mod that improves Norway and aims to add more twist to passing Norway without having a significant impact on the game balance.

Norway’s Own Focus Tree

Norway will have its own focus tree, divided into the Politics, Industry and Army/Marine/Air branches.

The political tree is divided into the historical (democratic) half, from which Norway begins, and the ahistorical half, which opens if the democratic government collapses.

For Norway-in-exile and the Quisling government, a similar focus tree has been added, as for Free France and Vichy France.

A richer historical flavor

Johan Nygordsvold leads Norway as a member of the minority party. The Labor Party, which he represents, received only about 40% of the vote in the last election. He must therefore pursue a policy based on the support of other parties in order to preserve his democratic mandate. This is currently in play, as the techniques you choose influence the views of the Labor Party and other major parties operating in Norway.

Norway is a country with strong democratic convictions, and only a small minority of voters supports extreme parties like communists and fascists. Despite this, Norway had never had a majority government until 1936: the 1928 Labor government lasted only a few weeks, and the 1931-33 Peasants’ Party government suffered the same fate when the coalition collapsed. As controversy and bickering became commonplace, the collapse of Nigorsvold's cabinet could open the door for ambitious parties to threaten Norwegian democracy.

Norway was one of Europe’s worst-hit countries by the Great Depression, caused by failed economic policies in the 1920s; by 1936, Norway had begun to recover fully, and its urban and industrial areas had grown significantly. Despite this promising increase, however, unemployment remained high, rural areas still had not recovered, agricultural indebtedness had increased dramatically and bankruptcy cases had increased. The current situation of Norwegian startups reflects this situation, and the country has a number of adverse economic factors that undermine startups and reduce their growth potential. Addressing these issues should be a top priority for startups in your country.

However, despite economic difficulties, Norway had sufficient military strength in 1936: a significant number of divisions in relation to population and a fleet of reasonable size. Historically, despite Norway's remaining neutral, this was due to the continuation of the national military service that had existed since the First World War. However, while this allowed for a reasonable number of divisions, the national service was not popular. A decision had to be made whether to end the World War I mobilization for good or keep it going in the run-up to the coming conflict.

Weakened Quisling mode

Historically, when the Germans invaded Norway on 9 April 1940, Vidkun Quisling announced a formal coup against Njorsvold's government and established a quasi-independent collaborationist government that cooperated closely with the German occupation forces and the Imperial Norwegian Army of Joseph Terboven. Vanil Hoy 4 describes this simply as Germany’s 20% subordinate attitude toward Norway. However, this situation has now fully developed with the establishment of the German puppet government in Oslo led by Vidkun Quisling and the outbreak of the civil war. As Free France and Vichy France had separate trick trees, so Norway in exile and the Quisling regime had its own trick tree after the German invasion.

Norway in exile could replenish its treasury, which it successfully evacuated from Norway, acquire factories and shipyards, assemble a small army, and work on contacts and resistance to pave the way for liberation.

Meanwhile, Quisling’s government must contend not only with the consequences of guerrilla resistance, but also with a power-sharing agreement between Quisling’s cabinet, Nacional Samling, and the German occupying forces, the Reichskommissariat Terbofen.
