About This Mod

What is a bifurcation point?

There is not one bifurcation point Godspeed, but several large and many small ones along the way. Notable bifurcations include: the growing but short-lived Mongol Empire; the spread of Islam westward rather than eastward; the fact that the Great Schism did not occur and most Christianity became "Chalcedonian"; the success of the Kamakura Restoration in Japan; the succession of the Yuan Dynasty and the subsequent overthrow of the Han Dynasty, the Yue Dynasty of the Yuelato-Guan Dynasty, the centralization of the Holy Roman Empire, and the survival of the Anjou Empire.

The existence of a country called X seems very strange.

At Godspeed, we tend to stick to the idea of "cool rules." This means that if an idea seems interesting to us and can create a fascinating plot or gameplay, we will take it on board, even if it seems improbable. An example is the fictional country of Jan Dougou in Meridia, founded by King Abu Bakr II of Mali during a transatlantic expedition. Another point - the use of a mixture of fictional and real people, for example, Angevin Emperor Henry. We do not pretend that they are realistic, but we do not believe that they necessarily should be.

What ideologies are in fashion?

Centrism (centrist technocracy, socialist theocracy, orthodox centrism, patriotic centrism, panopticon)

Socialism (syndicalism, liberation theology, market socialism, Marxism, united socialism)

Libertarianism (mutualism, mobilized libertarianism, agrarianism, Batochism, Sovietism)

Social democracy (exclusive populism, distributivism, populist democracy, welfare economics, orthodox social democracy)

Liberalism (Third way, market liberalism, social liberalism, classical liberalism, revolutionary liberalism)

Conservatism (patternalism, conservative aristocracy, national conservatism, traditionalism, religious democracy)

Authoritarian democracy (military dictatorship, limited liberalism, aristocratic republicanism, reactionary democracy, oligarchy)

Autocracy (constitutional dictatorship, enlightened dictatorship, despotism, theocracy, national populism)

Corporatism (integralism, corporate oligarchy, corporate democracy, state syndicalism, delegated totalitarianism)

Supranationalism (without subideology).

Who is the leader of X?

Since Godspeed focuses on storytelling and world-building in addition to its gameplay, most of the game's portraits and leaders are fictional characters alongside real-life historical figures.

What is Godspeed: A Flame for Winter?

By @PRW-8/32

Godspeed: A Flame for Winter is a completely modified version of Hearts of Iron IV set in another 1934. It's still an extreme period of time, but a little bit different from the one we're used to.

A series of disjointed historical events, beginning with the colonization of North America by the Vikings, led to the emergence of a multipolar world centered on a number of great powers scattered across Europe, Asia and the new continent of Vesperia.

In 1949, the Old World was relieved that the terrible Great War between the powerful Holy Roman Empire and the great Anjou Empire had come to an end. After tens of millions of deaths and innumerable destruction from weapons never seen before in the world, Regensburg's ancient hegemony in Europe was shattered and the Anjou Empire defeated a lead- and toxic-gas-laden Europe.

Their victory, if it can be called so, is a Pyrrhic victory. All the victorious powers sacrificed too much for the glory of their monarchs. Socialist unrest erupts in the Angevin territories of Albion and in the industrial center of the Holy Roman Empire, the Ruhr. In Italy and the Thuringian Empire, unnamed dreamers are preparing a return to the days when the gods ruled subhuman slaves.

Russia's vast empire is trembling, and its Western neighbors are engulfed in instability, unrest, and extremist dictatorships. From the eastern bank of the Dnieper to Wallachia, bandit armies of anarchists are rampaging. But these unrest pales in comparison to the inherent problem of electing a new king in a country that never learned to unite and the current king's fall as a result of failed rule.

Vesperia is a brave new world, insulated from the ravages of war, but facing enormous challenges. After the end of the Wesperian War, the creation of the Continental Union of Nations proved insufficient to maintain stability in the slave-owning Republic of Virginia. A massive slave rebellion broke out, which was on the verge of becoming a revolution.

The Far East was dominated by the Koshi Empire, an industrial power that was gradually liberalizing politically and institutionally. Her F
