About This Mod
The F4SE plugin for Fallout 4 uses the operating system's disk cache for I/O and reduces disk access during play. The game is less likely to stop. The effect of this mode is visible mainly to those who install the game on hard drives, and to a lesser extent - on solid state drives.
Game loads are predictable. For example, character animations, steps, textures, etc. are reused quickly and never change. Without a file cache, the system must read data from disk when it is needed, resulting in significant performance degradation on slow drives such as HDD.
When the mode is booted, the average disk access speed drops from 1.8 thousand times per second (25 MB/s) to 200 times per second (2 MB/s).
