Save the Day - All That Remains

This mod contains spoilers towards the end of chapter 2.

Content.

I want to save my mom from Quentin, this fashion for you. This mod alters Hawke's arrival to save Liandra before she is brutally murdered and transformed into Frankenstein's Monster Woman.

Mechanics.

The game 'All That Remains' starts normally. However, when you arrive at the Killer's Den, Leandra no longer has a zombie head morphine and is dressed in normal noble clothes. You are no longer fighting Leandra's Obsession. There are no death scenes (which means Hawke will have to kill the extra corpses he usually takes care of in cutscenes). Instead, Leandra will follow you until you leave the zone. The exit from the zone is added directly to the left of the final zone of confrontation, so you do not have to return from the Foundry.

The rest of the game continues as if Liandra had not been kidnapped. Gamlen does not speak of it, and her love interest (or Avelyn) does not come to comfort her. The rescued Leandra returns to the Houks and appears in chapter 3.

We tried to remove all references to her death from the game, but we could omit some of them (exception: One of the comments from Chief Bethany refers to the loss of her mother, but in the same sentence she also mentions the loss of Hawke. The templar Carver also has the line "Misfortune found Mother", but technically she was omitted anyway, so she too was left alone).

Installation.

Leave ERF to override. Strictly speaking, it can be installed any time before entering the Killer's Den in All The Remains, but it is recommended to install it before the start of the second act.

Compatibility.

Removing mentions of Leandra's death means correcting many files. Where possible, we have tried to avoid changes that may conflict with other mods, but there are several that are not fully compatible. These include

Repeatable Romance Scenes - if you are using this mod, download the compatibility patch and add the file 'dae000_pc_home_. ambients.cnv' to the 'Custom Cutscenes' folder in Override's Repeatable Romance Scenes and overwrite it when prompted.

Sapphim's Dialogue mini mod - if you use 'Shut Up Gamlen', you need to download the compatibility patch and put it in Override.

Fixing items that are not available. If you use this mod, Gascard's letter mentions Leandra's death (however, if you remove the erf 'Main Game' from the UIF folder to the same folder as the Override/Save the Day main folder, my file will overwrite it).

This mod also replaces one of the same files as Skip the Harvester, but you can use both mods together without resorting to the patch.

Leandra Outfit Changers: Cannot be used on Leandra after completing a mission. She wears the usual noble A outfit. In chapter two, I had to create a new Leandra to appear at Hawke's estate, because I changed her hair every time I left the house. Don't ask me why. If you're using Dress Up With Mom, download an additional Dress Up With Mom file so you can do something about it.

If you use sapphim mod to miss All That Remains completely, this mod can (theoretically) be used with it to remove the mention of Liandra's death.

NOTES:

Some of the Quentin scenes, especially those with petrol cards, may look a bit strange. He's an evil sorcerer who still thinks Liandra looks like his dead wife. During the fight, Liandra looks excited, but she uses blood magic. Hawk Quentin will look terrified of losing his mother, but his fear is entirely justified.

There will be no dialog worthy of cut-scene in the form of "thank you for saving me", so you will have to make the decision to reconnect with it yourself.

If Gascar were with you and survived (and it would be easy to convince him), he would still send you a package, but since he mentions Leandra's death in his letter, you are now accepting the package. Similarly, the quest "Visit Hamlen" in Act 3 now asks you only to visit him.

It took some work to delete some references. One conversation between Fenris and Anders may no longer make sense (though I still think it works, YMMV). And the diplomatic response to the conversation about visiting Hamlen was a bit awkward.
