About This Mod

Chargin's Custom Hawks, no more manual editing or .mop.

This blog was originally published last year on the old blog Tumblr, which is now closed. It has also undergone a major renovation.

I love Hawke's custom .purple, but I hate manually editing saves.

Tired of choosing Warrick's class and promo clips, which instead of your own Hawk shows Hawk by default?

Do you like long manuals that look complicated but really simple?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then this tutorial is for you.

Synopsis.

This is a wonderful "hack" that makes the game think your custom .mor file is a .mop file. We're sorry, but we can't convert the .purple to .mop (although the opposite is possible).

However, while .purple cannot be edited in-game, all data such as hairstyle, skin color, face shape, etc. remains intact, and the game save icons are displayed perfectly (see below).

A little trick to make Hawkes' customization more accessible.

Complexity.

Easy, some prior knowledge is required.

What you need.

Mephales's pyGFF Editor

Thought Process .erf Packager

Xronit's "Skip Exaggerated Entry" or starrarte's "Skip Entry".

A special .purple for your hawk.

Things Related to .mop Files

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------

For demonstration use Hawke preset from Tummy_Za as a visual test.

I used the out-of-game editor pyGFF to add a nose print and change the eye color from blue to amber by default.

When you're happy with the .purple file you received and ready to import it into the game, rename it to 'hm_iconicmale.purple' or 'hf_iconicfemale.purple' depending on the hawk's gender.

'hm' means man-man and 'hf' means woman-man. This may seem like common sense, but it is important to get it right.

Convert the "hm_iconicmale.mor" file to a .erf file and convert it to . «\packagescoreoverridepatch».

If OVERRIDE does not have a PATCH folder, create one. I don't know why, but it will make the game recognize it. This may have something to do with a higher file hierarchy. Who knows. As long as everything works, there are no problems.

When I open a game and start a new save, it is next to my custom Marian, which contains the Hawke's Key mod from Legacy DLC. What a shameless advertisement.

But that is not all.

Your Hawk now appears when you select a class and enter the top level, but you have to take a few more steps to appear in the chart.

Exit the game without selecting a class.

Put the Intro Skipper (see "What You Need" above) in the Override folder so you can go to the chart. This is optional, but highly recommended. If you want to play an intro to go to chargen, feel free to do so.

Open the chargenmorphcfg.xml file and place<resource name=""/>in the category 'Human Male' or 'Human Female', right before the line</human_male>or</human_female>.

<heads>

<human_male>

<resource name="hm_iconicmale.mop"/>

<resource name="hm_iconicmale_nomark.mop"/>

<resource name="hm_iconicmale.mop"/>

<resource name="hm_iconicmale_nomark.mop"/>

<resource name=""/>

</human_male>

<human_female>

<resource name="hf_iconicfemale.mop"/>

<resource name="hf_iconicfemale_normark.mop"/>

<resource name="hf_iconicfemale.mop"/>

<resource name="hf_iconicfemale_normark. Mat

<resource name=""/>

</human_female>

</heads>

And if you have an intro skipper, it is immediately sent to the charger. Select the last preset and you're done. Your custom Hawk is made up of a fake .mop.

As already mentioned, changing the values in the Charger does not work. If you choose a new hairstyle, the entire head shape will be completely lost.

Garrett, looks good.

Bugs, notes and latest thoughts

Basically, while you're editing the 'hm/f_iconicfe/male.purple' file and the Chargen line is empty, you tell the game, "Oh, you should use the default icon.purple." And if the user changes this icon, everything else will be in the past.

I have played with this method many times and have never experienced problems. If you follow this procedure correctly, you don't have to worry about Hawk suddenly making a mistake and starting to flounder.

However, there is one caveat: although this method works perfectly with the launcher charger, it oddly does not work at all with a mirror in Black Emporium.

If you try to use a mirror in the middle of the game, you get a headless hawk that you've seen before (try this three times quickly). The solution is to use a face changer, restart the recording, or edit it manually as before. But the whole tutorial is about how to avoid it.

TL;DR. Don't use this bloody mirror if you really don't want to walk with white hair and without facial expressions. That scares Merrill very much.

Oh. Before I forget, I want to say that Hawke's portrait can be edited 100 percent, and it looks the right way.

I didn't change the background or move it in the test, but trust me. There is every possibility for this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------

I hope this lesson will be useful to someone. I haven't done a lot of tutorials in the past (but I'd like to do more for DA2), so if I've confused someone along the way, feel free to leave a message or comment. I'll be happy to help.
