SOM – Service Optimization Module

Tired of hearses and garbage trucks that drive around the city and do not do their job? This fashion will bring them back!

The Service Optimization Module (SOM) adjusts artificial intelligence behind office buildings and vehicles to make them more intelligent and... well, humanoid, along with human limitations.

What you will notice:

— Catalogs ARE MUCH MORE EFFICIENT! They pick up the corpses the same way a real driver would, and at a distance, a real dispatcher would send them. On the other hand, drivers are not robots: if you tell them not to help a particular building that is right in their path, they can still pick up the corpses from that building. In addition, if your city is crowded with corpses, drivers can distract themselves by following the orders of traffic controllers.

- Garbage trucks are actively looking for target sites BEFORE they become a problem, as in real life. These guys are committed to their cause: they will do everything they can to put your streets in order. But that doesn't mean you can be reckless when you place trash. Be reasonable in choosing the location of the facility, and drivers and dispatchers will do the rest. Be reckless, you may simply find your drivers driving off on hilarious protest trips.

"As long as there's a problem, the service doesn't allow its employees to sit idle. For example, if your city is flooded with garbage, garbage trucks will continue to ship until the problem is resolved or they no longer have trucks to ship.

What SOM does NOT do:

- SOM is no substitute for smart urban planning. If you have traffic jams everywhere, service cars will also get stuck in traffic.

- SOM does not turn services into ubiquitous beings. In other words, if it is unlikely that the driver knows that a particular building needs help in real life (for example, he has a corpse), the SOM driver will also not know. Remember that SOM does not give drivers X-ray vision. They only know what the dispatchers tell them, and the dispatchers only know what they've been informed about in a timely manner.

- SOM does not create perfect operators or perfect communication between operators and drivers. Dispatchers will do their best to get the driver’s message across in time; but that doesn’t mean it will. For example, if the driver is traveling on the road and the dispatcher informs him that there is a corpse in a nearby building, the driver may have passed by the building by the time the message is received. Plan your city in a way that minimizes "human error," or be prepared for a city of corpses and rubbish.
