About This Mod

This mod will give you spells that you can use to subdue your companions/summons to the same artificial intelligence as enemies in the main game, with archetypes pushing them towards a certain behavior. You can also make new allies using the Art system if you wish.

Note that even when you choose a melee AI, if the companion has a bow and can't reach the target or thinks it's the best idea, it will use it instead, it's the same for all other archetypes, they're more like suggesting what you prefer to do AI rather than limiting. For example, when using Melee AI in a cleric, he can still heal, but will instead choose to kill someone if he has the chance.

Archetypes:

Melee/ranged fighter (fighter) archetype - Prefers to end moves closer to enemies if they are fighting in melee, or further away if they are ranged, prefer to damage or kill enemies.

Melee/Ranged Warfare Archetype (Control/Buffy) - Prefers to complete moves closer to enemies in melee or further in ranged combat, has less preference for dealing damage, and more to apply status to enemies, will use 'Human Hold', 'Sleep', 'Team' more often.

Melee/Ranged Doctor Archetype (Healing/Buffy) - Prefers to end moves closer to enemies if they are in melee, or further away if they are ranged, have less preference for dealing damage, and have more preference for healing allies, and prefer buffeting allies in the second place.

General/Random Archetype - Random and unfiltered, they have no preference, will do what they want, actions will depend on available equipment, items, skills and spells.

Berserk's Archetype - Has no preference for long-range and close-range combat, loves to inflict damage, and also loves to throw or use improvised weapons **Don't keep healing potions on this character until it works properly**

Trickster's Archetype - Has no preference for melee or ranged combat. He likes to deal damage, uses environments such as barrels, uses poison and objects, disarms opponents, and sometimes even steals their weapons. (A disarming spell or ability is required for this part to work) Some parts of this archetype require the character to be an NPC in order to work.

Archetype Default - Does not actually change the archetype, but instead uses the archetype that the game assigned to this character. Simply turns on AI during combat.

NPC Passive Skill:

each of your characters will receive a switchable passive skill, which when enabled will turn them into an NPC during combat using the archetype to which they are currently assigned. NPCs generally perform better and have fewer limitations, but can sometimes become unstable. Example of limitation: If the character is NOT an NPC, then he can not heal himself, only the others. Spells such as "Snatch" or "Surge" had to be edited manually to make them work. Spells/actions that are considered "Scream" will likely not work unless the character is an NPC. I recommend experimenting to see what works best for you.

*Warning: Do not use NPC archetypes on more than three characters at once. This can cause the CSE to fly out if there is to be a dialog immediately after the fight. It is normal and completely safe to place other characters under AI control using non-NPC archetypes. Also, make sure you have at least one character that is not an NPC archetype; otherwise the game will glitch. This also applies to multiplayer - make sure that each player joining has their own character, as the game will get confused if the player does not have any characters.

Orders: (Available in version 1.3.36)You

you can spend the bonus action to communicate with your allies during combat.

Current orders:

1. Target Focus - Mark the target, and over the next 3 moves your allies will focus on destroying the target. You may have more than 1 target at a time and your allies will act accordingly.

2. Ignore Target - Mark the target, and over the next 3 moves your allies will target other enemies as long as possible. You may have more than 1 ignored target at a time and your allies will act accordingly.

3. Block Overlay - Can be applied to a party member to prevent him from casting spells. They will still attack using any weapons and weapon skills they have. Valid until reapply is canceled.

Allied Arts Spell Series: (Available in version 1.3)Additional mechanics,

allowing you to acquire more allies in a fun and balanced* way.

The Art of Mind Control:

  • Mind Control - Try to establish a mental connection with any friendly or neutral purpose and make it one of your most loyal allies. The target must successfully perform a wisdom save against your Spell DC or establish a mind connection with you. If the target successfully saves, both you and the target's mind take 2d4 mental damage. From the point of view of the target, it is likely that you are attacking it, and it can strike back if the mental link fails. (Metamagic also works correctly on a spell, so for example, if you use Metamagic: Enhanced spell, then resisting your mind control becomes more difficult)

  • Mind Control: Follow - Begin or stop passing on the intent you want to follow through the mental connection you have established with your allies under mind control.

  • Mind Control: Deformation - Use your mind connection to manipulate the space around your mind-related allies, allowing them to instantly teleport to you. This ability can be used from any distance, which will prove invaluable when you need immediate help or want to rejoin abandoned allies.

  • Mind Control: Release - Break the mind bond by releasing your target and erasing her memories of the bond, allowing her to return to normal life. * Has a very small chance of failing if the mind-mind bond has become too strong.

  • Mind Control: Obsession - Extend the influence of your mental connection from simple devotion to total possession. Turns a mind-bound character into a player character that you can control yourself.

INSTRUCTION:

To cast a spell, click on the spell "AI Allies: Archetypes," then select which archetype you want, then you can select up to 8 targets if you have marked less than 8, just click the check mark in the lower right corner when you are done.

If you only want to put your invocation under AI control, that is, a spell on the square that does just that, you can also find it in the AI Allies: Archetypes spell container along with other spells.

All relevant spells work as a "switch", so if you want to disable AI for only one character, simply cast the same spell you used on it again and it will disconnect. If you want to disable AI for everyone, that is, the AOE spell,

which you can use to disconnect AI from any archetypes or calls you have configured.

You can find all spells in your spell book when you click 'K', they will be on the 'General' tab in the 'Cantrips' section.

Installation instructions:

Using BG3 Mod Manager:

  • Click "File" —> "Import mod.." —> select the "AI Allies.zip" file you have downloaded.
  • Drag the AI allies from the Inactive Modifications tab to the Active Modifications tab.
  • On the top toolbar, click Save Download Order To File and Export Order To Game.

Now the mod must be active.

Instructions for Make-an-Archetype addon:

To install, go to the BG3 installation folder and extract the Data folder. A proper installation will result in the following directory structure: "\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate 3\Data\Public\AI Allies\AI\Archetypes\My_Archetype.txt".

Install the PAK file using BG3 Mod Manager or Vortex as usual. (Remember to download it AFTER AI allies)

Now you can start editing My_Archetype.txt (Do not rename). I added links to help you, in a separate folder, it also includes base.txt, which has all the possible modifiers that you can add to your archetype. Don't forget to restart the game after making any changes.
