About This Mod

The Adepts of the College of Speech speak the art of eloquence. Conviction is considered high art, and a well-argued, well-spoken argument is often more convincing than the facts. These bards possess a mixture of logic and theatrical word play, winning skeptics and detractors with logical arguments and touching the strings of the heart to appeal to the emotions of the audience.

Silver tongue

College of eloquence 3rd level Feature

You're a master at saying the right thing at the right time. When you check for Charisma (Conviction) or Charisma (Deception), you can treat d20 9 or lower as 10.

Notes: There were no mechanical changes compared to the original text. He does what he says.

Words of Anxiety

: Eloquence College Function

At 3rd level, you can pronounce magic-laden words that knock a creature out of its tracks and make it question itself. As a bonus action, you can spend one use of your Bard inspiration and choose one creature that you see within 60 feet of you. Throw the Bardic Inspiration cube. The creature must subtract the dropped number from the next save, which it will make until the beginning of your next turn.

Notes: There were no mechanical changes compared to the original text. It is important to note that the ability rolls a Bard cube before the status is applied, you know exactly how many will be subtracted from the next saving throw of the affected entity, allowing you to play more calculated, tactically.

A constant inspiration

6th level College of Speech Your

the inspiring words are so compelling that others feel a sense of striving for success.

Attack and save. When a creature adds one of your Bard Inspiration cubes to an Attack or Saving Throw, and the roll fails, the creature again gets the Bard Inspiration cube.

Test your abilities. When a creature adds one of your Bard Inspiration bones to its Ability Check, regardless of the outcome, the creature rolls a d20. When you roll 11 or higher, the creature regains the Bardovian inspiration cube.

Author's notes: Missed attack rolls and failed saves repay the inspiration of bards, as in the original text. However, I haven't found a way to test a successful or unsuccessful ability check in the game's code without using Script Extender (and I don't know how to do that yet). So I did this: "RNGesus, get behind the wheel." Each ability check made with Inexhaustible Inspiration has a 50% chance of restoring Bard inspiration. Is it balanced or well thought out? I don't know, and I don't. But it was better than leaving the ability check in limbo without bonuses.

Universal Speech

6th level College of Eloquence

As an action, you can gain the ability to make your speech understandable to anyone, be it a creature or a corpse. Within 1 hour, you gain the benefits of both Talk to Animals and Talk to Dead. Once you use this feature, you will not be able to use it again until you have finished your long rest, unless you use a spell cell to use it again.

Author's note: The original text is what we call "Ribbon Feature", a feature focused on the atmosphere/role-playing game that allows Bard Eloquence to be understood by nearby creatures, regardless of language barrier (which is common in D&D board games). Since spoken language is not a mechanic in BG3, I have turned universal speech into a "quality of life enhancement function" while preserving as much color as possible.

Infectious Inspiration

College of Eloquence 14th level includes

Charges Of Eloquence. You get 5 Oratory Charges that you can spend on using "Contagious Inspiration." You restore all the spent charges of eloquence when you finish a long rest.

Author's note: In the original text set, the number of times you can use "Contagious Inspiration" was tied to the "Charisma" modifier, but I just set it to a fixed number of 5 because A. Who doesn't have +5 Cha as a 14th-level Bard, and B. I don't know how to give a dynamically tunable resource to the user action as a class function.

Master of Inspiration. When you successfully inspire someone, the power of your eloquence can now spread to someone else. When a creature within 60 feet of you adds one of your Bard Inspiration dice to its attack roll or saving throw, and the roll succeeds, you gain an Inspiration Dream until the end of your next turn. Once per turn, as long as you have a "Dream of Inspiration," you can spend a charge of eloquence to give bard inspiration to another creature (except yourself) within 60 feet of you. This free action doesn't use the bonus action and doesn't waste any of your Bard inspirations.

Author's note: A slightly more pronounced difference is that the original gave Bardov inspiration as a reaction to someone's success. Unfortunately, BG3 does not allow the player to aim anything during the Interrupt/Reaction, so in my version the Inspiration hand is postponed until the next turn of the Bard. But this is a free action that costs nothing but a little eloquence. The fact that it's not a reaction means that the change is a win in the resource (the reaction now can be usAlso, you can't immediately inspire someone who needs a bonus before you start your turn. Let us hope that trade will be more or less evenly distributed.

This version of "Contagious Inspiration" is not related to successful ability checks, but I think that ability checks in combat are rare enough in BG3 that they cannot be missed. I hope that once the Contagious Inspiration is unlocked, successful ability checks will get some benefit, but have not yet come up with any.

v.1.02: Contagious inspiration now also works when checking abilities if the creature loses a d20 roll at Bardowski permanence.

List

cases

Change the duration of Universal Speech from 1 hour (600 rounds) to "Long rest".

When a creature gains 10 or less on Bard's permanence and loses Inexhaustible inspiration, it activates Contagious inspiration.

Modify the text of the Spell Hint "Infectious Inspiration" to reflect that it can trigger the ability check.

Known Issues

The subclass icon disappears in some cases. Maybe a patch of 5 shenanigans.

The Silver Tongue feature is not working properly; it may be related to the inheritance of trusted talents.
