Oath of Glory - Subclass

Paladin

Paladins who take the Oath of Glory believe that they and their companions are destined to achieve glory through deeds. They train hard and cheer up their comrades to be ready when fate calls. The Oath of Glory, published in the Theros Mythical Odyssey and Tasha's Cauldron of All, is a subclass of paladins based on heroes from Greek myths blessed by the gods. In the board game, this sub-class is designed to enhance the paladin's physical skills, giving him increased strength and speed, allowing him to perform heroic acts in pursuit of fame. I will not hide - this is my first attempt in modding BG3. I really like the atmosphere and the ability of the Pledge of Fame, so much so that I learned to modify it to get the class into the game as accurately as possible. However, please let me know if there are any mistakes or ways that you think can improve the fashion!

Features

Level 1 - "Oath dogmas" and "Oath" - The Principles of the Oath of Glory encourage the paladin to perform feats that may one day shine in legend.

• Actions are more important than words. Strive to be known by glorious deeds, not by words.
• Difficulties are just tests. Feel free to meet the challenges and inspire your allies to meet them with you.
• Hone your body. Like a raw stone, your body must be processed so that its potential can be realized.
• Discipline the soul. You must discipline yourself to overcome the flaws within yourself that threaten to eclipse the glory of you and your friends.

Implementation notes: Although this is only a subclass, it is important to note that I have tagged this subclass so that it has the same conditions for breaking the oath as paladins with the specialty "Devotion". For now, the dialogs will also be flagged as Paladins with a specialization of "Devotion".

Level 1 - Great Acts - You can use your Channel Oath as a bonus action to summon the gods to guide your movements. Within 2 turns, your weapon attacks take critical damage when throwing 19 or 20, and enemies have a disadvantage when attacking with the ability against you.

Implementation notes: In BG3, Larian decided to give the paladins an additional "Canal Oath" option at level 1, probably because there were no special features between level 7 and level 12. I wanted to follow the same patterns for balance, and luckily, in an early version of The Pledge of Glory (heroism) there was a canal deity that increased the likelihood of a critical paladin strike. To match other 1st-level variants from other paladin subclasses, I made a 2-turn duration. Since the 5% Critical Damage bonus on two moves seemed like a small gain in itself, I added the drawback on attacks whenever possible as a nice addition that adds mobility and makes it easier to run through enemies to strike the biggest threat or save an ally!

Level 3 - Oath Spells - You receive the following Oath spells at the levels listed. These spells are always ready.

• Level 3 - Guide bolt, Heroism
• Level 5 - Ability Enhancement, Magic Weapon
• Level 9 - Acceleration, Energy Protection

Level 3 - Athlete Equals - As a bonus action, you can use the channel oath to improve your athleticism. Over the next 10 moves, you add +2 to your strength score and gain an advantage in strength (athletics) and agility (acrobatics) checks; you can carry, push, drag, and lift twice as much weight as normal; and your length and height jump distances increase by 10 feet.

Implementation Notes: This is implemented the same as in 5e, except for +2 to the strength score. I included this bonus because in 5e this feature makes the Pledge of Fame a very effective grapler and is key to one of the class's distinctive features. Since there is no Hook in the game yet, I have added a power bonus so that the Oath of Glory paladins can roll medium-level creatures and heavier items earlier than other power-based classes, and increase damage slightly. It seemed to me that this would preserve the class identity of a good grapler without deviating too far from the original function.

Level 3 - Inspirational Punishment - Once you have dealt damage to your creature with Divine Punishment, you can use the channel oath as a bonus action and distribute temporary health points to all allies within 30 feet of you. The total number of temporary health points is equal to your charisma modifier + your level in this class.

Implementation Notes: When you use Divine Kara, you will unlock the Inspirational Kara on the Quick Access bar as a bonus action, provided you are still using the Channel Oath. In 5e, the total temporary health is 2d8 + Paladin level, distributed to your allies as you wish. I couldn't find a way for the player to choose exactly how much OZ would go to an ally, so I reduced the total and made it apply to all allies.

Level 7 - Aura of Gentleness - You radiate an aura that fills you and your companions with uncanny speed, allowing you to race through the battlefield in formation. Walking speed increases by 10 feet. In addition, if you are not disabled, the walk speed of any ally that begins its turn within 5 feet of you increases by 10 feet until the end of that turn.

Implementation Notes: This works just like in 5e.

Future versions

• Level 15 and Level 20 features - I work on implementing sub-class functions up to Level 20 (Glorious Protection and Living Legend). I'm not using Tier 20 mods myself yet, but when I do, I'll test these features to make sure they work and release an update that includes them.
• Custom Gear - Currently, when selecting a character during creation, a subclass is equipped with a bib as armor. I'm not very sure of my visual modding abilities, but I want to make armor for subclasses like other paladin classes. If you are good at such things and would like to help me add my own Scaly Ring of Glory, please contact us!
• Class icon - I have a class icon (see the top of the fashion page), but it is not yet implemented to work with other class icons using the resources of the improved user interface. Until I do, the default subclass icon from Compatibility Framework will be displayed.
• Bug fixes and quality service - as I said earlier, please let me know if there are any aspects of fashion that don't work properly and I will try to fix them as soon as possible! In addition, if additional mods come out that will improve the implementation of class functions (for example, the recently released framework for grappling), I can release changes that will work better with these features.

• Download and unpack Oath_Glory.zip (to get Oath_Glory.pak)
• Open BG3 Mod Manager and either 1) open Shortcut to the mod folder and drag Oath_Glory.pak to the mod folder, then Update, or 2) click File -> Import mod, go to Oath_Glory.pak and import into the mod folder.
• Migrating Oath of Glory from inactive to active modifications
• Save Load Order to File, launch the game and enjoy!
