About This Mod

The idea for this vehicle originated from the Steam workshop of GDC Logistics - Realistic Economy Mod. It models a realistic economy, prices, etc., includes a detailed guide to the operation of freight transport and a "formula" for planning travel time. I used this formula to create a more automated route time plan. I've seen a few people using a real EDL app for trucking, but the ATS shifts would be much smaller than they really are. So below we will explain how we used this "tool" to add realism to the ATS game. For illustrative purposes, we will divide it into two parts.


1. time-in-transit planning - there are two tabs dedicated to route planning in the excel file: the first one is for logical od calculations (taken from GDC mode), and the second one you enter the length of route, average speed, number of stops and behavior of other drivers. These calculations allow better planning of work depending on the situation with working time. By entering the numbers as shown in the screenshot below, you will calculate the approximate time required to complete the operation (also includes rest stops, refueling stops, and loading/unloading times).


2. Electronic driving log and clock in the car (EDL and HOS)

This bit is set to change the standard fatigue simulation in ATS. As you know, in the United States, a driver change must last no more than 10 hours before a 14-hour uninterrupted break, and only 11 hours of driving is allowed during a shift. They should also take a 30-minute break after driving for eight hours in a row. The actual EDL has more options and looks different. So, you just mark the beginning of the shift, the beginning of work (after the beginning of the shift and pre-flight inspections), the break after 8 hours of continuous work and closing before 14 hours. I like this simulation because it shows that trucking is not only about driving, but also about safety. Because it shows that trucking is not only about driving, it's about safety. Remember that the time must be entered in decimal format. For example, 7 hours and 15 minutes in decimal would be 7.25.
