About This Mod
Description.
Dongfeng type internal combustion locomotive, formerly known as ND (内電: internal combustion engine, electric drive), was the first practical internal combustion locomotive for trunking, developed in China on Soviet technology.
It was first produced in 1963 at the Dalian Rolling Stock Plant for test operation, and mass production began in 1965. Early models had two trapezoidal observation windows in the front, commonly known as "weeping faces", while later models were optimized in terms of front design to reduce wind resistance and improve visibility.
In 1972, Dalian Locomotive Works designed and built the Dongfeng No. 3 cars. The transmission numbers of the traction engines in the original chassis and powerplant were reduced to meet the requirements of passenger transport.
