About This Mod
At some stage of development, the CDPR planned that a fourth type of mutagen, yellow, would be introduced alongside blue, green, and red. Yellow mutagens have to connect with yellow skills, which in vanilla play cannot connect to mutagens to provide an extra bonus. However, at some point during the development of the base game, they were cut out, and CDPR did a pretty decent job of removing this feature from the game's files. Only the icon (which, interestingly, received the updated appearance of the mutagen icon in patch 1.08), 3 lines of code and several yellow charts of "links" buried deep in the file panel_character.redswf remained. However, this was enough to restore the function.
This mod brings back smaller, normal, and larger yellow mutagens. The CDPR left the bonus provided by the yellow mutagen as a bonus to the attack power, which is identical to the red mutagen. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but simply the result of the feature being cut out before it was finished. To make the yellow mutagens more interesting for the real gameplay, I decided to make them give a bonus to endurance. To ensure maximum compatibility with other mods and avoid editing loot tables, yellow mutagens will not fall out of monsters or occur in the world. Instead, they will need to be crafted using a combination of three red, three green, and three blue mutagens. This is partly inspired by the yellow mutations in Blood and Wine, which required a combination of red, green, and blue mutagens.
Mechanics
Smaller, normal, and larger yellow mutagens act in much the same way as their red, green, and blue counterparts. They can be inserted into mutagen slots in the character's menu to gain endurance bonuses of 5%/7%/10% for smaller/normal/large yellow mutagens respectively. They can combine with yellow skills in one group to gain +100% to their effect for each yellow skill in the group. Yellow mutagens placed in mutagen slots are also fully compatible with the Synergy ability, which increases the mutagen bonuses found in the slots. All this is similar to the behavior of vanilla red and blue mutagens. Currently, there are two versions of fashion that change the way yellow mutagen alchemy formulas are produced in the game.
Standard version:
Formulas for smaller/normal/large mutagens can be purchased at Pellar/Hute Traveler/Gremista respectively. In this way, the yellow mutagens will become a more interesting upgrade that Geralt will be able to receive and improve throughout the game.
Classic Version:
Like all color mutagens, formulas of yellow mutagens will be included in Geralt's default alchemical recipes. To get them, start a new game or download an existing save.
Menu Graphics
Fortunately, the CDPR has left most of the unused menu graphics in yellow, including connectors and slot backgrounds, in redswf vanilla files. This means that this graphics can be activated using scripts and does not require editing by redswf, which often results in serious compatibility issues. Unfortunately, they missed one thing, namely the yellow banner and icon, where the text describing the bonus provided by the yellow mutagen appears. Although I've been editing redswf in the past, it was a bit out of my power. Fortunately, a Tinnaib user was able to edit and add a yellow banner and a custom icon for the yellow mutagen bonus. There are two versions of the icon to choose from: the Endurance icon (ver A) or the General Statistics icon (ver B). Because redswf files often cause compatibility issues and cannot be merged, this yellow banner is provided as a separate add-on file that can be installed with the base mode. Also included is a version with 60fps support for both icon styles. The mod is 100% fully functional without this add-on file, but the banner with the bonus text will be red and with the sword icon like the red mutagen.
Installation
Main mode:
Extract "modYellowMutagen" (or "modYellowMutagenClassic" if you are using this version) into the Mods folder. If it does not exist, create one. Also unpack "dlcyellowmutagen" into your game's dlc folder. This mod contains several script edits, so be sure to merge them using Script Merger. The mod is fully compatible and recommended for use with Brothers In Arms Ultimate Bug Fix and Restored Content Collection(BiA). Just give this fashion priority over it. In the latest version, all xml files were converted to DLC mode format, which should fix most compatibility issues. The mod should now be compatible with Ghost Mode mode. Compatibility with other updates is unknown.
Yellow Panel Add-on:
Extract mod to Mods folder. If you are using the 60fps UI mod, install the 60fps version. However, the add-on file will not be compatible with mods that are editing the panel_character.redswf file.
