About This Mod

I like blood and wine, and I like the Toussaint region a lot. This is one of my favorite DLCs of all time and one of my favorite regions in open world games. A fantasy version of southern France and Italy, with knights, beautiful girls, fairy-tale castles, hidden dark secrets, and high vampires to be killed - which one might not like, right?

In fact, I liked Blood and Wine better than the base game (don't argue with me), but I didn't like the way the DLC looked overall (although I don't like the way the Witcher 3 looks overall #E3NeverForgetti). In terms of black and white, if it’s not an ugly yellow tint, it’s a dense blue inversion layer of mist, similar to what one encounters over industrial areas in China. If it's not the ugly LOD trees that are so translucent that they glow away, it's a terrible overexposed bloom. Then everything is covered with this terrible yellow tinge or "urine filter". DLC is impregnated with it (pun), and you shouldn't even talk about the guards and their over-exposed pure white torches at night. Their torches emit this overexposed white light, what the hell is CDPR? The fire doesn't look like that.

So I decided to search the internet for the modding envs and downloaded the tools needed to do something about it, and after some tinkering I present you a fairly simple and modest attempt to improve the lighting in B&W while trying to keep its heart and soul intact.

LINKS

The days are bright and sunny, the dawn is golden, and the sunsets are drowned in pastel shades of orange and violet. Colorful flowering inspired by Witcher 2. Dark, shaded and no longer bleached leaves with realistic mist and no more white torches and bonfires at night. And before you say, "But this is how it should be, everything is covered in urine and clouded, because it should evoke the atmosphere of a fairy tale." Yellow filter for urine =/= fairy tale (I agree it should look hazy and vague, although to some extent). If you think it sounds like real inspiration from RL, find photos of rural southern France and Italy (which were Toussaint's inspiration) and tell me what they look like. You can always use vanilla if you like, but calling the B&W vanilla lighting fabulous and creating a fabulous atmosphere reminiscent of Tuscany and the Bordeaux countryside is a silly statement, in my opinion.

Foggy and rainy weather should look more realistic and gray, without the exaggerated colors that CDPR seems to like so much. The White Mansion was also redesigned to make it more atmospheric with thick fog and haze to further boost the mood. In foggy weather, the lighting will have a foggy scattered glow, as in real life.

Added a new weather in the form of rain, essentially a Mediterranean shower. You won't see showers again just in Toussaint. Obviously, if it rains in Toussaint, it must be a storm, always.

The interiors will be bright day and dark night, as it should be. The catacombs will be realistically grim and brooding. Take a torch or two with you.

The accursed Elvish ruins were completely reworked with dark light and fog. In general, they should become more atmospheric and horrendous.

All in all, the rants are over. I hope you enjoy the fashion and have fun. I made it for personal use, but decided to share. Don't forget to support if you like fashion.

FASHION TECHNICAL DETAILS

I'm planning to add some new features to the mod, so keep an eye on it. Open for comments and suggestions.

Make sure your display is calibrated. By default, Witcher 3 overrides the gamut and turns the game red. I use "Preserve System Gamma" as it saves your calibrated Windows color profile in the game.

PRIORITIZE THIS FASHION OVER MY HD TREE BILLBOARDS FASHION!

INSTALLATION

Just unzip the file into the mod folder.

COMPATIBILITY

Not compatible with other lighting modes that edit black and white.

May be incompatible with mods editing night or cat vision.
