About This Mod

Since the fashion description is quite long and not all people will read it to the end, please make sure you have carefully read the "Compatibility" and "Installation" chapters at the bottom of the page. Installing is a little different than installing most mods, and when using True Fires with some other mods, you will also need to install compatibility patches.

Description

The goal of this fashion is to maximize all aspects of the game's fires. This includes:

The fires themselves

Mixtures of fire sources

Light sources

Shadows

In addition, this mod contains countless fixes related to fire, grids, light sources, and shadows in general. In addition, the mod includes improvements and corrections related to quests, as well as several additional improvements and changes related to fire sources that do not fall into these categories.

It also includes most of the fantastic fashion Hyadum27 "New Fires" (shadow version), although I have changed quite a few bonfires.

In addition, the mod was designed to be used alongside the amazing Immersive Lighting mod by MrR0x. However, it is compatible with any mode of lighting, just some things may not look as you would like when using a different mode of lighting or, God forbid, vanilla lighting.

Maud covers the main game and HoS, although no quest fires have been edited for the latter.

Good

Fires

Drawing range of all types of fire has been significantly increased

Increased paint distance for particles such as sparks and smoke

New bonfires have been created for:

All types of Mangals and Eternal Fire sanctuaries (5 different versions, including a huge fire for the Mangal in the Great Temple of Eternal Fire)

All types of wall torches including flame spheres

Hand torches, including flame spheres

Fireplaces

Foundry

Fires with boilers

Wall barbecues with physics on

Square wall barbecues that can be seen in Svorlag

A special type of burning coal

See the section "Improvements and corrections related to quests" for a few bonfires related to quests.

A few more unique bonfires, see "Additional Improvements and Changes".

Additional bonfires added:

On top of all three towers of the Great Temple of the Eternal Fire fire fire fires now burn (which were already in Vanilla).

A huge barn at the entrance to St. Gregory's Bridge is now on fire

The big torches at the entrance to St. Gregory's Bridge are now burning

The square fires for the New Fires barbecue are reduced and better centered to significantly reduce fire trimming through the barbecue net

Grids

Significantly increased lighting source grid drawing distance, including all types of red and blue lights/lamps

Increased LOD for some nets, such as barbecues and sanctuaries of the Eternal Flame, as well as most metal barbecues

Light sources

The distance to draw all conventional light sources has been significantly increased, as well as some special ones - on the Crow's Pen and in the tower on Fike Island

Adjust the brightness, radius, flicker, and/or color of multiple lights and their shadows

Shadows

Significantly increased quality and distance of many shadows already present in New Fires (shadow version)

Added shadows for several light sources, such as most hanging and standing lamps, several types of candles and candlesticks, some types of barbecues, including those in Sigismund's Bath and Avallaca's Laboratory, medium bonfires and more

Change the meshes of the round and square wall mangals you can see in Svorlag so they also cast shadows

Manually changed shadow settings for many individual light sources, mainly in Novigrad and Skellig

Removed strange-looking and glittering shadows from a certain type of wall torches (mainly present in the Royal Palace in Vizim) and a certain type of candelabra

Shadows are not ideal because the engine is rather limited in this respect. However, I tried my best to carefully balance the shadow settings between all light sources in the game, as improving the quality of one light source's shadows could easily disrupt others. With the current general settings, very few shadows still glitch, so I have adjusted the remaining manually or deleted, moved and/or replaced the lights, but this is hopefully not noticeable and mostly even looks better, IMO.

In general, I hope there will be no more sharp glitches when the shadow disappears completely at a certain position and angle of the camera.
