Historic Markarth

"Historical Markart" is the first in the line of mods I do for the overhaul of Skyrim cities, and it is a labor of love, which I have been working on for several months. When I started creating it, there were almost no modifications to Marcart on the Nexus, and while others were out while I was working on fashion, none of them matched my personal taste. I wanted a mod that took into account the history of the city and the Limits, that made the city's racial and class issues a little more apparent, and that expanded the city with more buildings and neighborhoods. The mod is not 100% finished, but I decided to release it as is and make any corrections and updates based on user feedback over time, rather than leave it alone. It was my project to train modification, so some areas are severely hampered by misunderstanding how lighting or clutter adds delay, but I hope to reduce this in future updates.

Features of the city

Individual clutter at each entrance, making it easier to navigate the city

More lights available around the city (note: if you have other mods that add lights, you can get delay and flicker)

Three new buildings: the sauna (partially finished), the honeymaker (finished) and the Imperial College of Voice (finished, except for NPC functionality)

Three separate "neighborhoods" of the city, based on the city's history: Riverside, a poor neighborhood where the natives of the Limit live; Lower Dreyside, where merchants and non-natives live and work; and Upper Dreyside, where you will find noblemen, wealthy citizens, and a fortress; the Temple is also styled to its own "neighborhood" and is designed for a garden/recreation area

Mess and workbenches, street sanctuaries and recreation areas for survival

Residences

All residences now have personalized touches on the entrances to give clues about who lives there. Wealthier residents have more disorder, poorer residents have less. The abandoned house also has a unique entrance to make it more sinister.

Dreyside Market

Another counter was added to the market, as the trade at the Limit was too disrupted by the Forsaken and the Silver Blood Monopoly to thrive. All the stores were cluttered up on both Dreyside and Riverside, so you knew what those stores were, and so did the Silver Blood Hotel. Market stalls have also become more cluttered. A new medical facility was added, as well as an entrance to the area that would eventually become a middle-class neighborhood.

Upper Dry Side

Anderstone Fortress was updated to show the importance of the building, a small recreation area outside, a rich mess, and a more well-lit walkway. Near the fortress a small staircase leads to the camp of the beggars and an old statue of Mary, which the locals turned into Mother Mara, Our Lady of Hagraven, much to the chagrin of the jarl. The path next to the fortress is also better lit and includes the entrance to the Old Imperial College of the Voice.

Temple and sanctuary

The footpaths around Dibella Temple have been turned into a functional recreation area, and they now serve as the best dividing line between Dreyside and Riverside. The sanctuary of Talos received a unique entrance according to its function. Under the Temple, on the market street, there is an entrance to the bath, which will eventually run the Order of Dibella.

Lower Riverside

The area around the smelter and the mine has become more smoke, industrial turmoil and the presence of security guards, underscoring both the poverty of the area and the fact that there are suspected agents of the Renegade and, of course, the prison. Entrances were added that would eventually lead to residences of the Limits, who do not live in Warren, and new shops, but for now they are purely decorative. The entrance to Warrens has become more cluttered and looks more settled.

Upper Riverside

The Hall of the Dead and the Dvemer Ruins has unique entrances, as well as ample lighting, emphasizing the reverence of the Nords and Limesters for their dead. The witch's medicine now has ornaments appropriate to its purpose, and the blacksmith has become more complex and useful.

Known Issues

There may be some flicker of light with mods that add new lights or light sources to the city

Entrance to the bath slightly interferes with the movement along the alley nearby - so far has not been a problem, let me know if it becomes problematic

NPC has a gray face bug - the fix is planned for the next update

New buildings are not locked overnight and things are not owned at this time - a fix is planned for the next update

The door next to the medical center and the market is currently not leading anywhere - it is planned to update the next

The dormitory door at Voice College is currently not going anywhere and should be updated next time
