Imhothar's Bags is designed to make it easier to manage your items across multiple characters and add some "add-ons" to your user interface. Due to the current API limitations, it does not do what it was originally intended to do (namely, replace the standard inventory windows), but be sure it will be added once the addon API allows it to do so.
In the meantime, you get the advantage of having all your items displayed in one window, so you get a good overview of your stuff. You can view the contents of your bank even while you are in the desert and view items from your offline characters.
